Spent a week volunteering in this hostel in March 2015, helping to repaint the Games Room with bright murals to replace the dull cream/green colour scheme. Had a brilliant week there, met lots of lovely new people (other volunteers and the hostel staff too!), the food was great, the rooms big and airy and the grounds a delight to walk... More

We stayed in one if the camping pods for 2 nights. The location is beautiful and peaceful, the pods were clean and warm, and the toilet and shower facilities were an excellent standard. We did nt use the kitchen area but it also looked great. Would recommend and use again.

This is an amazing place to stay and I will be travelling here again. We stayed here with family and friends and felt so comfortable as the place is so roomy! The area is great with many places to walk within walking distance. Hawkshead is a lovely little place with little shops.

Absolutely fantastic YHA i have stayed at quite a few over the years, but with the frendly staff, good food and great atmosphere this made it into my top ten. Easy to get around the lakes, to may of the fells (with car)... and staff are very knowledgeable about walking routes and all that is going on in the area... More

Lovely staff, very good food, a warm and welcome feel, good kitchen, we had a good time. Premises are a bit old and stuffy and rooms maybe a bit moist and could do with airing, but what can you do, it's an old building. Lovely grounds, and the campsite looked very nice, too.

I've stayed in many youth hostels so knew what to expect. This YH is in a beautiful setting but maybe not very convenient if you don't have a car. The main house is impressive and charming and the facilities are fairly good. There is free Wifi available in certain areas of the Hostel. Our private room was in the courtyard... More

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry you were affected by noise overnight while you were here but I hope it didn't impact on your stay too much. Thanks for pointing about about the lack of hooks, I will look into it. We hope to see you here again sometime and are glad you often use youth hostels. More

Amazing place, nice large garden in front of the house. Great and helpful staff, nice historical building, great food, cheap, clean rooms. Ideal stay when you're visiting Lake District. Highly recommend to my friends.

We stayed in one of the pods at this YHA Hostel; basically a well insulated hut with power and nothing else, which is just what we expected. A great substitute for a tent, with all the necessary facilities available within about 100m: clean toilets, great showers, communal kitchen and drying room. They also do cooked breakfasts and dinners if you... More

YHA HAWKSHEAD is comfortably placed at lake Estwaite. And the small village shows the inspiration Poet William wordsworth took from. Great place to stay. We were a family of 4 adults, so we booked a room with 4 beds(bunks). Self catering kitchen was the highlight. staff were polite. services were good. winderemere is only about 20 kins drive from here.... More
