My husband and I have recently spent four nights at The Waterside Hotel, Grasmere. We were with a coach party and I requested a ground floor room as my husband has difficulty in walking. When we arrived at the hotel there were a number of steps up to the front door, To get to our room, we had to negotiate... more

Please do not stay at this hotel. We booked three nights after viewing it on the internet. On arrival at the car park, my first impression was that this hotel was in need of a face lift. The entrance was dirty and the paintwork flaking off after years of neglect. Walking in was like going back in time, the whole... more

We stayed there one night on a family room which was quite spacious and nicely decorated, in an old fashioned way. Sure, the hotel is old, but I think it still holds it's charm, specially that small dinning room with a view over the lake. Location is absolutely wonderful. The hotel has a beautiful garden by the lake, kids loved... more

Okay the hotel smells a bit musty and the entrance can be congested with smokers when you try to relax on the Chaisse Longe, but it is set in a lovely location. We can no longer book a family room. What happened? more

To say this hotel is tired is an understatement - it's past it's "sell by date". The decor is faded and looks dirty in places, carpets are threadbare, and whilst some of the staff are friendly some were totally disinterested. We were in a group of 12 and in my estimation were treated abysmally. The first night we were literally... more

I booked the hotel for a last minute break for my husband, two sons and me. We stayed in two economy rooms which were perfectly adequate. Yes they backed on to the road but there is hardly any traffic overnight and we were not disturbed by any noise at all. The hotel is in a lovel location right next to... more

Talk about deceiving pictures, yes lovely location and view if your room faces the lake perhaps but not if you get room on busy road side! When we first arrived we drove into the back car park well that automatically scared us as there was an extension that looked less like a hotel and more like mobile homes! Yes we... more

I had read two bad reviews on this hotel and was a bit nervous about going. However I had a most pleasent suprise, I found the hotel to be very comfortable friendly and the food was excellent. I was more than satisfied. The hotel is also very well situated near to Grasmere centre and is in a lovely setting. I... more

As with some other reviews we were apprehensive but I can honestly say that all aspects of our stay were good. Yes the hotel is not the most modern I ve ever stayed in but hey... the room was a good size, bed comfy, bedding and towels immaculate. The bathroom was also spotless!! Views across the lake were fantastic, both... more

We were slightly worried about staying at this hotel due to the mixed reviews but were thoroughly impressed. We got an amazing deal on dinner, bed and breakfast for £62!! The room was lovely with an amazing view across the lake. The food was yummy and even the breakfast was great. The hotel is a little rough around the edges... more
