I stay in the area quite a lot due to a nearby client. I've stayed probably 4/5 times and the rooms are really hit and miss. The standard rooms feature very low slung Ikea type beds, which aren't ideal. The few which I've tried had slats missing, poor quality mattresses and covers. I had to change rooms 3 times, twice... We booked a speciality Mews room and were given No 1 (of 4) which are at the back of the car park looking like a line of wooden chalets. The bed was upstairs on a mezzanine floor, but space was really tight squeezing against the banister to get to the far side. We lost count how many times we bumped... More

Hotel is very comfortable and friendly. Dogs allowed in main hotel bedrooms, but not in mews accommodation, which is a shame. Apart from that can't fault it. Great location. Also good toiletries - Molton Broown! Fab!

We booked here as we were unable to get in to our usual hotel in Grasmere (silver wedding anniversary), and were very pleased we did. Ideal, central position- although Tweedies can get very busy at night ( noise stopped after 12). The hotel is very comfortable - our room was small, but it had everything we needed and lovely to... A group of 9 doing the coast to coast. We couldn't all fit in the hotel but we met in the restaurant for dinner. We were shocked to find that we had 10 percent added to the bill for being a large group and that we couldn't pay seperately or split the bill between the 3 rooms that were booked... More

We were due to come home after a two night stay in Ambleside when we stopped for a walk at White Moss. As we looked down the lake in the sunshine we spotted the village of Grasmere at the end of the lake. We decided on the spur of the moment to see if we could book a hotel for... More

We had stayed at the hotel a few years ago and liked it enough to come back for a 2 night stay. Our room was upstairs in main hotel and of good size with good views on 2 sides . Our overall impression of the room was that it needed a makeover, particularly the lighting and the archaic heating. Meals were... More

Thank you for review. I am sorry that had issues whilst you were staying with us, It would have been appreciated if you had drawn it to our attention whilst you were staying with us. Unfortunately Dale Lodge is old Georgian building with the large old fashioned radiators as you would call them archaic they are in keeping with the... More

The hotel is set in the heart of Grasmere surrounded by beautiful fells. Unfortunately this hotel does need money spending on it. My wife and I had booked a Mews room which gave use to a hot tub. At approximately £150 a night we thought it was quite expensive but the tub was the deciding factor. There are 4 Mews... More

Thank you for your response. I have taken your comments on board. the mews is in fact is a barn conversion which has been received very well by many guests. There is ample storage for suite cases upstairs and ample hanging space down stairs with storage above for bags. The Bins which you refer to have been discretely stowed away... More

I booked this for my parents as it is dog friendly and the holiday rental we stayed in round the corner had a no pets policy. The hotel was very relaxing, had lovely grounds and great service. The hotel was busy so my parents had to change rooms after the first 2 nights for the last night but the staff... More

Stayed here recently on a 3 night break on a special offer which was a fantastic deal! We arrived on Monday on bed and breakfast so we had the flexibility of being able to decide what to do for dinner each night. We had booked the Mews Rooms and have to say we made a great decision in doing so!... More
