We had stayed at the hotel a few years ago and liked it enough to come back for a 2 night stay. Our room was upstairs in main hotel and of good size with good views on 2 sides . Our overall impression of the room was that it needed a makeover, particularly the lighting and the archaic heating. Meals were... More

The hotel is set in the heart of Grasmere surrounded by beautiful fells. Unfortunately this hotel does need money spending on it. My wife and I had booked a Mews room which gave use to a hot tub. At approximately £150 a night we thought it was quite expensive but the tub was the deciding factor. There are 4 Mews... More

I booked this for my parents as it is dog friendly and the holiday rental we stayed in round the corner had a no pets policy. The hotel was very relaxing, had lovely grounds and great service. The hotel was busy so my parents had to change rooms after the first 2 nights for the last night but the staff... More

Stayed here recently on a 3 night break on a special offer which was a fantastic deal! We arrived on Monday on bed and breakfast so we had the flexibility of being able to decide what to do for dinner each night. We had booked the Mews Rooms and have to say we made a great decision in doing so!... More

The Dale hotel was found on the internet, a special deal that turned out to be the best break we've had in a long long time. Fantastic staff, our room was lovely clean and homely. great breakfast. My wife and I including the two kids and the dog had a lazy weekend. Will 100% return again, great hotel. Thank you,... More

We booked the hotel on based on customer rating and were not disappointed, The hotel was extremity clean, and the staff friendly and courteous. The breakfast was excellent cooked to perfection and perfect poached eggs. Great bar attached selling a wide range of beers, food and entertainment if you prefer a less formal setting to the main restaurant. Booked a... More

The food is rather dull and dinner is excruciatingly slow (tweedies customers have priority over hotel guests). The rooms are average. The service is inconsistent and indifferent. This should be a good hotel but it isn't. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else with some character and warmth.

We usually love Dale Lodge and have booked our wedding here next year. That said, I'm afraid I was disappointed with this stay. We stayed in the mews suite as we like the use of the hot tub, which was fine. Each day we ordered breakfast in our room, for a supplement. Each day it was wrong. One day I... More

Centrally located with plenty of parking Dale Lodge is a great place to stay in Grasmere. Facilities are good and breakfast plentiful and tasty. Tweedies bar is joined on offering good meals and a great selection of real ale. Friendly staff made our stay enjoyable and we will look forward to a return visit.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2015

We got married at the Dale Lodge in November 2014 after discovering this gem of a hotel the year before. The hotel was the perfect setting for our day from the roaring fires in all of the reception rooms to the country pub feel of Tweedies where we held our reception. We want to give special thanks to Craig who... More
