I stayed here for a long weekend, in a single room, to meet up with my parents and sisters who are holidaying in a nearby cottage. My mum and sisters had been here before, loved it and recommended it to me and they were spot-on. The lovely old house is set in gorgeous gardens against the stunning backdrop of Lakeland... More

Weekend trip away over what was apparently a very busy period in the Lakes with the Fred Whitten Challenge taking place in Grasmere. So while cycling into the area en route to the hotel I recieved a phonecall - expecting this to be a pre arrival courtesy - which explained to me that there had been a Laterooms mix up.... More

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, followed by a single night a few days later on the way back from our travels. Impressive old building building, beautiful wooded surroundings, comfortable rooms, very friendly staff, good food and excellent situation to enjoy easy access to walking routes and wandering round the village, Saw badgers, foxes and deer right outside... We stayed at this beautiful place for one night. Very comfortable bed (Room 20) and the breakfast was a delight. All staff were very pleasant and we understand that the hotel is due a major revamp soon. Hopefully the original features of such a beautiful historic building will not be lost but realise its need for upkeep.

Reviews for the Forest Side Hotel dated prior to the summer of 2013 should be ignored. There has been a change of ownership and as a result the new management team are very welcoming and helpful and provide a very good overall level of service. The hotel furnishings and heating systems in particular are dated and I understand the new... More

Booked this hotel as I was looking to stay somewhere over Easter and most of the rooms at other hotels were fully booked. Arrived at the hotel on a Friday afternoon, reception were pleasant and the room was good, with nice comfortable beds. Not much of a view from our room, but then really the hotel was really only being... More

I booked a two day break over Easter by telephoning the hotel direct. I spoke to Pedro - the boss- who offered me room 18 which was a four poster with ensuite facilities including a bath. When we arrived we were told that room 18 was occupied but Pedro had given us room 12 which he told us was much... More

Having left it a little late to book somewhere for the Easter weekend, we found a standard room available at Forest Side hotel at an eye-watering rate of more than £150 per night. Imagine our surprise when we were told at check-in that as we'd booked the last room in the hotel, we would have to share a bathroom! When... More

We slept in room 3. It is a standard room. It was really comfortable. The beds were soft, decked with clean crisp white cotton.....a dream. The shower worked a treat. The view was lovely, sheep, trees and green grass. The single beds faced each other...what a novelty....it meant I could face my husband in bed! To be honest, there was... More

We've just returned from a four-night stay in a self-catering apartment at this hotel. It was basic and tired, but clean with a comfortable bed and nice bedding. For the price we paid I was quite happy and would stay again. The hotel itself was old-fashioned and charming; we spent a couple of evenings in the lounge there. I would... More
