We have enjoyed visiting Forest Side on many occasions in recent years. A beautiful building in wonderful surroundings. You used to receive a warm welcome, enjoy good food and stay in a friendly atmosphere from which to explore Grasmere and surrounding region. I can't believe how this hotel has suddenly gone downhill under new management. I have stayed at Forest Side during various months of the year, it is ideally situated for my walking holidays to the Lakes. Stayed at the Forest Side in March. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if slightly to warm. The breakfasts were great and the evening meals were absolutely lovely. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The settings were stunning and it is a shame I didn't get to explore the grounds a bit more. All in all a great weekend... more

It's my fourth time at Forest Side Hotel and had a great time. It's always a warm reception with roaring log fires and fresh coffee. I can highly recommend it - I'd go for the breakfasts alone! It's very reasonable and we've often sent friends and family there for a treat. more
