The lancrigg is in the most beautiful location and a fabulous place to go for peace and tranquility. The room we stayed in was stunning and the quality of the bed linen and toiletries was excellent. Although I am not a vegetarian I really enjoyed the food which was of an excellent standard. Service, however, could have been better and... more

My Partner and I stayed at Lancrigg with our 2 Sons several years ago and decided to have a week's break there on our own in early June - big mistake! The hotel is in a beautiful setting and the grounds are lovely, but the room we had was dirty. The curtains in our room (Dickens) had partially fallen from... more

First time for us, but we'll be back very soon! Lovely room (Silver Howe) with a breathtaking view. Staff always friendly and helpful. Food was completely excellent, both in terms of choice and quality. I now believe it is truly possible to add considerable flavour to Tofu!! Breakfast in particular was outstanding, the perfect start to a days 'crag hopping'... more

We ate at the Lancrigg this weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the memory of our wonderful wedding night here 14 years ago was sullied by the lacklustre service and disappointing food we experienced on this occasion. No sparkling mineral water available at 7pm on a warm Sat evening in June in a half empty dining room, the alternative... more

I admit I had big expectations of Lancrigg, was very excited to be staying at a vegetarian hotel (versus the usual b&b). Lancrigg is very beautiful; the view and gardens are amazing. The inside has some very charming feature, but it is tired. Our room (Darwin) was comfy, and the bathroom particularly was good. But the room is now in... more

What a beautiful hotel, I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is very clean and beautifully furnished. The atmosphere is very tranquil and peaceful. The food is absolutely fantastic, and there is even a good choice for vegans (which as most vegans will know is almost unheard of). The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. The room (Easedale) was... more

Lancrigg is a historic house, rambling, slightly faded and weathered, set in 30 acres of garden, with a stunning position overlooking Easedale. You couldn't want a more atmospheric place to sit with a beer in the gentle afternoon sunshine looking across the valley. All the rooms (we were nosy) were charming, each one distinct in style, but all grand in... more

This was our second stay - the last almost 2 years ago - and it was an extremely enjoyable, relaxing 3 night break. Lancrigg is a historic but unpretentious, welcoming and homely hotel set in its own beautiful grounds. The menu is very inventive and the food delicious. Each room is different and has slightly different facilities so when booking... more

As regular guests to Lancrigg, we have just returned from a highly enjoyable stay and cannot recommend it enough! We went to celebrate an anniversary and had a wonderful stay. The room was romantic and very clean, the views of the valley were stunning. It was the first time we had experienced the fully organic menu in the new Green... more

As fairly well-travelled vegetarians, it was with some excitement that we travelled to Lancrigg; especially after looking at some of the excellent reviews on this site. The first thing to note is that the hotel is situated about a mile out of Grasmere which in one way is great as it allows for total seclusion but which may also be... more
