Stayed at the Red lion last weekend. Hotel ok but the bedroom had no ventilation windows would only open an inch (health and safety I was told!!) Room needed a complete refurb, although the bed was comfortable, bathroom ancient!! Staff at breakfast hovered over you, a bit uncomfortable. Hotel not unlike most hotels in the Lakes, which describe themselves as... More

Lovely room, great, central location in Grasmere, food good, staff welcoming, fabulous walks on the doorstep, swimming pool welcome at the end of a day hiking in the hills. Will definitely return when we get a chance.

We have just returned from a romantic break to Grasmere and stayed here for the first time. It is in an excellent central location, all of the staff were pleasant and helpful without fail, the hotel was clean and comfortable. The food was very good in general. Our room did not include a TV remote but on ringing reception, we... More

Having just returned from the Lake District, I can thoroughly recommend this hotel. Grasmere is a wonderful spot to stay in. The hotel has a lot of character, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very good and food is super. One small problem is the lack of car parking, so be prepared to have to park... More

We have just returned from a four night stay at The Red Lion Hotel in Grasmere and had such a lovely break. Our room was very pleasant and comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. The food was delicious and with so much to choose from in the breakfast dining room and also on the evening menus, I particularly enjoyed... More

My wife and I have just returned from a few days at the Red Lion. This was our fifth or sixth visit, so clearly we feel at home there. The rooms are not large, but comfortable, and most rooms have excellent views. Breakfast is good, and the chef went out of his way to grill my mushrooms, (which apparently are... More

Just come back from a 3 night stay at The Red Lion in Grasmere to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We have stayed in many Best Western hotels both in the UK and Europe and must say The Red Lion is the best so far. The hotels décor, particularly in the lounge areas and restaurant could do with an update... More

We booked two rooms for three nights; therefore are well placed to evaluate our experience. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. This hotel is one of the most relaxing and unaffected places I have had the pleasure to stay in. The staff are wonderful; they are friendly, helpful and genuine in their interactions with customers. The views from the... More

The rooms at The Red Lion are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, and to be frank, they don't offer great value for money in my opinion. The hotel is central, it is clean and it is obviously popular, although if that's due to quality or a lack of competition I can't be sure of. Unfortunately, like a... More
