Seeing as I'm new to trip advisor I thought it'd be best to give a review for the fabulous time we spent here last year. We traveled with two others up to Grasmere where we spent a solid week of relaxation at the Red Lion hotel. Peaceful and tranquil, surrounded by fields we had many walks. Only thing that let... More

Really enjoyed our one night stay at the Red Lion. Excellent location right in the middle of Grasmere. Gorgeous pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc. Room a nice size - bigger than I was expecting. Comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. TV worked. Quiet room. No noise after 11pm from the hotel and just a couple of people chatting quietly outside our window (but... More

Just had a night stop over as travelling from the North of the lakes to the south. Hotel was clean, room great and at last a hotel where the TV worked. Great breakfast and happy staff with a lovely breakfast .

What a difference a year makes. It was our second stay and it just did not seem value for money at £65 b&b. There was a very poor welcome to start. A room that was cosy in winter became stifling in summer. We were placed in exactly the same room (304) which looked a year older and more tired, the... More

Loved the stay and the kind note from the maintenance man about the light in our room that didn't work! Didn't spoil our stay. Breakfast was interesting - the head guy was awful he did very little and his poor staff were running around doing his work and their own. We pointed this out to the reception staff on checkout... We stayed in the hotel for one night while passing. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The rooms could do with a bit of an update, specially the beds. The mattresses are lumpy and the cushions are of cheap quality. I wish I could say that i had a good night sleep but unfortunately that is not the case.... More

First impression is the excellent location in the heart of Grasmere, parking for our stay proved to be readily available within the confines of the hotel itself. The reception area pleasantly presented with ample seating for guests during the day and evening, the bar located in the lounge with very good service provided by the staff. The room adequate in... We were at the hotel as guests of a relative celebrating his birthday. First impressions are that it looks quite nice. The rooms are ok but dated furniture and fittings. The bathroom was definitely ageing. The shower offered the full range of its control without any adjustment. From cold to very hot and from full blast to absolutely no water... More
