Stayed for 2 nights and everything great. Food was superb with a good variety. Lounges very comfortable and staff friendly. Wide choice for breakfast and was piping hot. Great value for money and we will return.

New Year ("Twixmas") package, 3 nights; most of the guests were regulars, giving a houseparty feel. Apart from the excellent location this hotel is all about food and drink: despite change of chef, meals were outstanding. Tasting menu with fantastic value Wine Flight, delicious amuses bouches and petits fours. This is foodie heaven, some truly amazing tastes & textures. Attentive personal... More

Rooms were quiet and well furnished if a little on the snug side, but not a problem and maybe because of king bed which was very comfortable. Staff helpful and friendly and very accommodating to our requests. Had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

A lovely hotel. The rooms are not huge, but are very well equipped. Plenty of storage space and enough hangers! Tea/coffee facilities and even a welcome glass of sherry. The bathroom was spotless, with heated towel rail and shampoo etc provided. The chef had very large shoes to fill when he arrived, but the food is still divine. Going again... More

Having previously been for dinner at the OBH, as recommended by Jay Rayner in the Grauniad, we decided this time we'd stay the night. Although initially disappointed that Darren Comish (previous chef and contender on Masterchef) had departed for pastures new, we put our disappointment behind us as we checked in Room 5 (the ground floor suite with it's own... Thank you H & E for your kind comments. Just to be clear this meal was cooked by Ash (Sous) & Arron (CDP), they are doing a grand job as we wait for our new Head Chef to start. Our WIFI should change from super slow as we call it to super fast at the start of 2016! We look... More

Yeah, another review from Jolydaan! We stayed in Room 10 at the top of the house and the views, even on a rainy morning, were stunning - Silver Howe dominates the landscape. This newly refurbished room is superb, the separate dressing area allows for good storage and leaves the rest of the room clutter free. The bathroom is spacious, well... More

This is the fourth time this year we have stayed at Oak Bank. Our last 2 nights were in October but yesterday was for a celebration. We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms on the second floor. Beautifully decorated and the view this morning was magical (even in Lake District rain). We were welcomed by Joanne on our arrival... More

We stayed at Oak Bank for 5 nights, everything was very good, the staff very helpful and welcoming, the bedroom was lovely, the warm fire and settees very welcoming after a long walk and the food was amazing. However the one piece of service that I felt was outstanding was that having said I had a problem with eating nuts... More

We stayed at the Oak Bank, with our immediate family, to celebrate our 40th(Ruby) wedding anniversary. Our room was large, well furnished and with a very large and comfortable bed. Having noted the times for breakfast, my wife and i were leaving our room, with a good 20 minutes to spare, when our son sent us an urgent text. A member... More

We don’t ask why guests aren’t at breakfast nor how long will they be! Ever. Guests have an hour and a half for breakfast and it is their choice to come or not! One of the son’s came for breakfast on one of the days and certainly wasn’t happy that the rest of the family were not down, commenting that... More

Ok this is our 4th visit and we have visited 4 other hotels in the village, which were all nice in their own way. The rooms are nice, not outstanding, clean and well presented and i do like the ground floor room 17 which also has an entrance to the car park - very roomy too! What makes it stand... More
