We booked our twixmas break back in the summer and couldn't wait to get away from lifes monotony by experiencing the Lake District. It was an break away that didn't disappoint. The staff were extremely welcoming and accomodating throughout our stay. The communal areas were wonderfully cosy, warm and perfect for the time of year. Each night we sampled the... More

As in previous years our stay was excellent. Our food was superb from Darren and team. His spell on Masterchef, has enhanced the food even more. Simon and Glynis and the whole team make your stay outstanding. This is a hotel we never get tired of visiting.

We have just returned from a one night stay at this lovely hotel . We had room 5 , the 'green'room located to the front of the hotel . It was cosy and warm , extremely clean and with a very comfy bed and pillows . Little touches like complimentary sherry, homemade biscuits and fresh milk, as opposed to those... More

Lovely hotel in a great location with a fantastic dining experience. Nice welcome, lounges are cosy and rooms well appointed (ours was a little small but worth it for the view of the fells). Lots of nice touches (sherry in the room and nice biscuits etc) but what really lifts the place is the restaurant. Food would not be out... More

Yet again this hotel did not let us down. We visited at the weekend meeting up with friends which we often do at this hotel. No we are not sick of going there, it is such a treat for us. Simon, Glynis and the whole team make us so welcome, its like visiting friends and being invited into their home.... More

Like a lot of people I suppose we heard about The Oak Bank after watching the brilliant chef on Masterchef the professionals, and as it is basically on our doorstep we hastened along looking forward to some exciting cuisine ,and were certainly not disappointed, we were greeting with warm welcome and a toasty real fire. We perused the menu while... More

We spent three nights in this lovely hotel, and had a wonderful time. The hosts were welcoming from the start, and remained so throughout our stay. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The room was warm and very comfortable, with several small touches that really made... We booked because of the good reviews. The welcome was great, rooms a little dated, but clean and a lovely welcome tray with homemade shortbread, and a small decanter of sherry. A lovely touch. The lounges are so relaxing, lots of sofas, perfect for enjoying a pre dinner drink. The dinner lived up to expectations, fantastic. We would definitely visit... More

A rainy weekend saw the spirits lifted by the comfort of the hotel, but particularly the outstanding meals in the restaurant on both evenings. We booked with friends to share the fine dining we have previously experienced and were not disappointed. The diner is enticed into new experiences by Darren inserting carefully chosen tasters between the three courses. The service... More
