last minute trip to grasmere and what a lovely hotel. as a veggie i am used to having a limited choice of food wherever i stay but even at such short notice the chef came up with inventive, beautifully presented food each night of our stay. even my mum who is usually conservative in her choice of food, tried the... more

First stayed here in September 08 - Had a lovely stay with great warm service (Sherry in the room - how lovely!!) and fabulous food. Tried to book in April but they only had a small room available. We stayed at the Grasmere (not marvellous) but had a sensational meal in Oak Bank's restaurant. We would recommend the adventurous and... more

We have just returned from a weekend trip to the Oak Bank. As regular visitors we thought we would this time visit with a group of friends. As usual the food and welcome was first class. Both Glynis and Simon were on hand to make this a lovely lead up to Christmas. We all returned home ready o start the... more

The hotel was lovely and warm, the dinner, bed & breakfast offer is worth staying in for the food was excellent. The rooms were very well appointed and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in for a very long time, better than home!! The service made you feel special even though we only stayed the one night.... more

Despite terrible weather for nearly the whole 4 night stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Oak Bank. The hotel is ideally situated in the lovely village of Grasmere - perfect for all types of walks & centrally positioned for visiting all that the lake district has to offer. We arrived in pouring rain (which had aparently been falling... more

We booked this hotel based on the trip advisor rating, the first time ever. The hotel is located on the northen edge of the village in one of the most wonderful valleys in the lakes, from Grasmere you have only a short drive to the best of Cumbria and you can also park the car and walk the local fells.... more

Thank You for reviewing Oak Bank Hotel. We would like to make a couple of points in relation to this review. Everybody will have a different perspective of space and what is small or large, this room having a 5' bed in it would be a superior room, I would hope even our standard rooms could not be described as...

Over the years we have stayed in about a dozen hotels in the Lakes and would rate Oak Bank top for value for money. By no means super luxury but comfortable, friendly staff and excellent food. My only complaint was that the central heating in the room resulted in a slight humming noise. When I was 20 I would probably... more

My wife and I stayed for two nights midweek for a short break. As my wife was pregnant and just wanted to 'chill' this was, literally, just what the doctor ordered. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis in a superior room. The food for our two nights was very good with a good selection on the menu... more

Interesting menu but some courses were cold and we do not feel the food was value for money. There was inconsistency with the courses, some were better than others but some had cold plates and seemed to be "jazzed up" with green beans (when really there was not much else going on on the plate! Food was over priced for... more
