So far so good. Despite change of name to The Grand at Grasmere nothing much has changed thanks to the brilliant staff. Room refurbishment in progress but very discreet. Looking forward to our next visit in September!

If you're a pensioner, you'll love the place. If you're under 30, you'll probably hate it. I'm inbetween the two. Tired rooms, but they are being updated. Everyone sits down and eats their evening meal at the same time, which really wasn't for me. On the plus side, the staff were great.

We have visited the Gold Rill on many occasions and were concerned about the new name. Grand at Grasmere and new owners. We have just had a 4 day break and have been very pleased with the time we have spent there. The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever and the food was just as good, well cooked... More

Our room was dated but clean and comfortable. Prior to having our evening meal, canapes were served. These appeared to be brought round to guests as they arrived for pre dinner drinks, and only offered to them rather than being brought round again. It would have been a nice touch for the canapes to be brought round 2 or 3... More

Now known as the grand which doesn't really suit it. Still sane staff and as clean and comfortable as ever. However drink prices have escalated and choice is reduced. The fact that we could book at quite short notice is telling and staff did not seem as happy as under previous owners. Evening meal no longer had emphasis on local... More

We have been coming to this hotel for over 30 years, though we hadn't been since 2012. Unbeknown to us, the hotel changed hands in February, and has been renamed 'The Grand at Grasmere' which strikes me as a tad pretentious. We like coming back because the hotel is well situated in the village, so you can leave the car... More

Just got back from a great stay at the Gold Rill, cannot paise the hotel enough . The manager Yan and the staff were so helpful . Rooms were spotless and the meals were an enjoyable experience . I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to stay in Grasmere .

Stayed here for a couple of nights recently on a special offer and it was excellent. The place is gorgeous, the food was excellent and the service brilliant. Couldn't have asked for better, and got a good deal too!

As guests my wife and i had heard good things about this hotel prior to it changing ownership. Good points were the food but thats about it folks'.....We found it a challange to understand any of the staff as all seamed to be from abroad. They weren't attentive one bit and at one point were noticed to be snearing at... More

We have stayed at this hotel several times because of its wonderful friendly service, superb food, comfortable accommodation and views to die for, looking out onto Grasmere and the surrounding fells. Our latest visit did not nothing to change our opinion. However, new visitors should be aware that the hotel has recently changed hands and is now called The Grand... More
