This hotel has a very good location in Grasmere - well above average. The dining room and lounge is spacious and relaxing with great views out of fields, lake and hills. It is a quiet hotel with no music in the bar area and the guests all seem intent on reading, relaxing or getting ready to go out walking, or... More

Before arriving here, we had spent two nights in a hotel in Cartmel and had an unpleasant experience. We were given Romm 32 in the lodge, which is an annexe to the hotel and the room was lovely. It was spacious, with a lovely decor, a beautiful bathroom and spotlessly clean. The breakfast each morning was well presented and substantial.... More

We have just returned from our second five night break (a special offer), having gone at the same time last year (October). On both occasions we have had an excellent stay. The staff are friendly and polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. We stayed in an attic room (23) last year with wonderful views and this year... More

I picked this hotel due to the reviews on tripadvisor and just wanted to add my thoughts... Initial check in was poor with no where to leave luggage except in a hallway so I carried it back to my car. My room 22 was only accessed by walking through the dining room which was inconvenient. The atmosphere in the hotel... More

We booked a 3 night long weekend break just one week before we travelled. Initially we were allocated room 29, which is in the annex. This room is on the first floor and has sloping ceilings. Although we were warned to be careful, my husband did hit his head! Later, we moved to room 9, in the main building, which... More

........we do have some reservations. It is important to state initially that it is a lovely building in a beautiful position in Grasmere, the staff were terrific, the food exceptional and the attic room (23, no Wi-Fi) clean and comfortable with lovely views out of two normal windows (not Velux). However, at the age of 70 and 69 respectively we... More

But disappointed with the service. I have read the other reviews which commend the service so I think the staff must have been having an off day. Sat at 'wrong' table at breakfast and asked to move even though we had started eating. Asked for a jug of cold water and practically told to get it myself. When we returned... More

Conveniently located in Grasmere a few minutes walk to the village centre, this country hotel has retained high standards and does not disappoint. All the staff treat you as a welcome customer and not just someone who happens to sleep and eat there. The food is varied and excellent, Rooms are all well appointed and each are distinctive as the... More

This is a nice, quiet place right on the edge of the beautiful village of Grasmere. We had a short but pleasant stay and would have liked to stay longer. We had to stay in the lodge next door as the motel was booked out. Our room was nice, clean and spacious. Old fashioned but tasteful. There seemed to be... More
