I booked to stay in this hotel for a surprise weekend break with my girlfriend for her birthday after reading many of the positive reviews on trip advisor. All I can say is that I wished I had booked into another hotel or b&b in the Grassmere area. Me an my girlfriend were travelling upto the Lake District after work... More

The average age of the people staying at this hotel may be 60 to 70 but the hotel is excellent. The staff are always welcoming, the rooms are comfortable , the food is good and the hotel is clean. What else could one want?

Hotel fit us in last minute for dinner and we had a gorgeous meal with very attentive staff! We were staying in a hotel just around corner and wished we'd stayed here! Yes the clientele did seem to be a bit older but so what we are 46 and 50 and it wouldn't stop us booking to a break there!... More

Stayed here for 3 nights d/b/b. Food very good, apart from boiled ham that was far too salty for me. Breakfasts were good. The bedroom although small everything you needed was there. One problem was the pillows very lumpy - very uncomfortable. The leather settees and chairs need to be cleaned, ingrained dirt on the arms and seats. Staff very... More

We stayed for one night and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. Room 18 was fab, spacious with all facilities needed and an amazing view. Dinner was really reasonable at £23 per head for 5 courses and I was worried that the quality wouldn't be good but it was superb. Breakfast had plenty of choice and they even accommodated... More

We had a 4 night stay including a weekend and found that the clientele is much more mixed at weekends, which is understandable, and the bar was livelier with some big family groups. Also older people have more money - wish I could have stayed somewhere like this when I was younger but had to make do with the youth... More

We arrived for a three night stay but could only manage one! The hotel decor is very tired and whilst we are in our late 60's we felt we had brought down the average guest age considerably! We were shocked that it was impossible to buy a basic drink from the bar. Dinner time was a bizarre queuing system and... More
