We have stayed at the Grand at Lytham but this is nothing like it....yet. We appreciated that it was going to be refurbished but we were shocked at its current state and that is our own fault as we didn't do our research. It's perfectly pleasant, comfortable and in a lovely peaceful location with a beautiful garden, stunning views and... More

We stayed in the Lodge which is at the side of the hotel, room 30. It's a great room with a view over a secluded part of the garden, a recess between the room and the toilet with a large wardrobe, and then a good toilet, bath with shower above etc. There are steps down into the room and steps... Recently returned from our annual short break at what we consider to be The Gold Rill because the new name of The Grand at Grasmere is ridiculous. It is a country house hotel and does not lend itself to the name Grand.Just because the new owners have another hotel named The Grand there was no need to change.Precociousness gone mad.Having said... First of all, I only went there for a meal. It was lovely and the staff were very, very nice. At the time I think I was about 58 or 59 years of age and went in there wearing my Kiss T shirt and jeans. When I looked around I think I was the youngest person in the restaurant (apart... More

We'd enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and canapes at the hotel last year and were so impressed with the service that we booked to stay there this year. We were allocated the refurbished rooms which are beautifully appointed, the service from staff was very attentive and friendly at the same time. The standard of food at dinner each night was amazing, my... More

I stayed here last night, dinner, b&b for £94. Good dinner, good breakfast, great position overlooking fields of sheep with hills in the background, lovely stay. My only slight niggle was the lousy shower, not much more than a dribble ! I'm told it's being sorted. It's actually called The Grand at Grasmere now, The Gold Rill was a better... More

This was the first visit to the hotel since the change in ownership. The staff were as friendly as ever, the food was excellent and the service was generally good. The hotel is undergoing a rolling programme of refurbishment but this does not impact on the stay. Some rooms have been refreshed and look very nice, many more still to... More

Come to Grasmere a lot but this is the first time we have tried here. Received a warm welcome the room was shabby and small although clean. We had been offered an alternative room outside the hotel and up the road a bit but declined as it was pouring rain, bad decision in retrospect. We ate elsewhere but decided to... More

Having stayed twice before we worried that new ownership would have altered the hotel. But happy to say the staff were as pleasant as ever, food even better. So here's hoping this contines in this peaceful spot. Even in the seeming absence of any manager everything functioned like clockwork. We will certainly return.

Another visit to what is now the Grand at Grasmere Country House Hotel. Grand is certainly an appropriate title - grand location, grand scenery, grand hospitality and grand friendly staff. With refurbishment in progress it can only get more grand. let's hope the prices don't get too grand. Looking forward to developments.
