From the moment we contacted the hotel we knew we had made the right choice. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. We felt at ease and relaxed as soon as we walked into the hotel. The position of the hotel in the centre of Grasmere is perfect! The restaurant is excellent and the service is fantastic. We will definitely return.

This hotel is dog-friendly, but if like me you don't have a dog, then you should look for a clean, un-smelly, dog-free room elsewhere. I don't think that it exists in this establishment - that lives on its reputation of its name and so-called link to Wordsworth (which it maybe has none?). The food at night is reasonable but the... A friend of ours got married here and we stayed at the venue overnight, we do believe everybody was charged the same amount and different size & quality of rooms were shared out equally to the guests. I think we were given one of the poorer rooms. It was small, cramped and tired looking. The beds were unconftable and we... More

We Booked our Wedding over a year ago and when we arrived on the 24th July this year, the hospitality from the staff was second to none. The room we stayed in was spectacular with amazing views of the mountains in the background. The acres of the hotel was just amazing and as we had such wonderful weather we got... More

Stayed at this hotel for three days first week in August, 2014. Stunning area complimented by this first class hotel. Hotel layout, staff attitudes, food, standard of rooms and public areas, grounds of hotel, etc, etc: all first class. As stated, I have never given a venue full marks previously, however, The Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere deserves this accolade. Well... More

We booked this hotel last minute so we knew it would not be the best room in the hotel. However the courtyard room had the fire escape in front of the only window and then a courtyard no bigger than 4m square. The room was extremely hot, very small, the light over the fire escape shone into the room all... More

Had a relatively impromptu stay at The Wordsworth. Booked directly with the hotel, which was effortless. Upon arrival, check-in service was quick and efficient and our room was available earlier than expected. The room was superb, beautifully furnished with amazing views of the mountains and gardens, and a really large comfortable bed. Had champagne afternoon tea served in the bar... More

We stayed at The Wordsworth for 3 nights on a DBB basis, we booked a courtyard room but upon arrival and looking at the room (number 33) we both felt really dissapointed as it was very small, view onto a wall, decor was v.tired and bathroom very dated. For nearly £200 a night we did not feel this would suffice,... More

Quaint hotel in the beautiful village of Grasmere. Rooms are good but do vary in size so the standard double is best value. The breakfast is excellent. But for us the best part is the pool and Jacuzzi where it is fantastic to relax after a day walking around the superb lake, hill walking or even shopping!!

My husband and I got married at the Wordsworth last week and it was wonderful, Laura and Catalin were great and the owner was very kind to us, nothing was too much trouble. We were all very impressed with our beautiful rooms, the wedding ceremony was lovely and our wedding breakfast was fabulous. Ian our photographer was just brilliant!, can't... More
