Just visited for the fifth time and I needed to write and say I visit here with my friends on an annual basis, it's beautiful, grounds gorgeous , setting excellent, brilliant place for walks and visiting other parts of the Lake District. The food is fabulous and the waitresses and staff make so much effort. The kindest and calmness from... More

We stayed in a new building in the back. Rooms were large, clean and simple with PLENTY of room for organizing packs and luggage which is what a C2Cer needs. Even though we arrived around 5pm, they were kind enough to do a load of laundry for us. However that was too late to eat there. (you need a reservation).... More

One of the most quiet and relaxing places to stay. Average room size. Everything was very clean including bathroom. No TV or dinner. Wifi available. Slow breakfast with all the people there. Breakfast starts late at 8:15. Mostly retired people staying there. It is a Quaker house. I was only C2C person staying there. Staff was very nice. Nice yard... More

Was not sure what to expect as this was my first visit but I was very pleasantly surprised. Stayed in the annexe in a twin room with shower. Clean and comfortable and so, so quiet. Breakfast was served within a half hour time slot and the cooked breakfast was really good. Tea/coffee and cakes were served at 4.30 pm and... More

Lovely room in beautiful surroundings. Hotel staff very friendly, food good. Next to National Trust property Allen Bank. Less than 5 minutes walk to centre of village on pedestrian pathways. Stayed for 1 night but will certainly return for a longer visit. Afternoon tea/coffee and cakes available free or donation presumably accepted. Packed lunches available and evening meal if booked.

Rooms are comfortable and ensuite. The nature of the property means that they are all different. There are two rooms specifically for people on wheelchairs. The breakfasts are plentiful and freshly cooked to order. Packed lunches are provided. The evening meals are three course and excellent, with a chance to purchase wine to drink with the meal. When I was... More

Having visited Glenthorne to use it's conference room facilities on several occasions, last weekend I stayed for the first time. It has recently had a bit of work done in the reception area but nothing to take away from the character and charm of this beautiful building in a stunning area. The room was a little snug but very comfortable... More

just go back from a 2 night stay. This was my first trip to Glenthorne after hearing about it for years and it surpassed expectations. It is beautifully situated - easy walking into the centre of Grasmere but in a tranquil spot ideal for a stroll in the valley or a longer walk up Helm Crag or through to Langdale.... More
