I stayed with two American friends for two nights. The meals were very hearty and of a good standard. Breakfast more than adequate. Evening meals were very tasty. The two day package was very good value for money. (Remembering what you would pay in a hotel in such a central position.) The owner was very helpful , and cheerful when... more

What a shame! The review could have been much better because the first night the service was fine, food was fine( really generous portions).Good choice for breakfast and very good service. Everything alright. But the second night was quite a different picture.Evidently understaffed we waited a long time to order also the food was not really hot. And we waited... more

We stayed here for one night booking it on the morning of our stay. The intention was to to use the health club facilities (as advertised on the website) and upon check in were told we would have to collect the passes needed at breakfast the following morning. The staff member who 'greeted' us looked bored and disinterested in her... more

travelled with party of four to do some walking, stayed for two nights on a deal, £100 pp, breakfast and dinner inc. rooms are ok, clean and tea/coffee facilities. Our room only had a shower, and the TV was a bit hazy, the other room however had both bath/ shower and a better TV and more space. We only stayed... more

After booking a two night deal with Dinner & BB, I read the reviews on this site, thinking "what have I done?" My doubts were un-founded, as the staff were very attentive, room furnished to a high standard, bathroom spotless. Our evening meals were very nice, what you would call good wholesome food, with generous portions. Good breakfast choice, with... more

I stayed at this hotel the first week of September with my husband. I made the mistake of reading the reviews on this site after I had booked my 5 day break and began to panic. Thankfully we found the whole stay very enjoyable. Our room was spacious clean and recently refurbished with pristine bed linen and spotless modern bathroom.... more

We booked a five day special which was very well priced. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, the food was good pub food and the portions were generous. We stayed in the room above the bar and although we never found it noisy I would imagine a saturday night could be noisy. The hotel is well situated in... more

This hotel was recommended by Coniston Tourist Information, they have obviously never stayed there. The best thing about the Crown is its location in the centre of Coniston. Our twin room appeared to be a single with an extra bed and a certain amount of manouvering was required to reach the second bed. The shower cubicle was moldy, leaked and... more

Booked for 2 nights. Room was poor and very gloomy - bedsprings stuck in me, bedding was poor. Bathroom shower screen broken, shower broken - that was OK really but I couldn't cope with the hair in the plughole. Breakfast very unthrilling indeed and pots not all that clean. Still at least I hadn't booked for evening meal so was... more
