The staff were friendly. The accommodation was clean. The food was tasty with interesting specials of the day on offer. Breakfast was good too. It also offered a variety of local. We stayed in one of the outside rooms which was quiet and had a large bathroom and TV in the room. I would definitely return.

We often visit Coniston and the Black Bull, with this visit being our best yet. Beer is superb, especially Bluebird Bitter, but there is something for all tastes. Food gets better every time we visit, with a good Regular menu and wide range of specials on offer.

Stayed in one of the cosy flats at the rear. Spoilt for choice of good food and their own Bluebird Ales. Great atmosphere and a warm welcome awaits travellers. The Venison Burger is cooked tp your liking and the "Specials Board" has several unusual but very tasty dishes.

Plenty of choice for both food and drink, busy with quite a good atmosphere. Food we chose was of good quality and didn't take too long to come bearing in mind how busy it was. Both food and drink is expensive compared to its competitors but we both enjoyed it. Would call again.

We just stopped here for lunch and a good beer - and we have not been disappointed. Try the classic Bluebird Bitter or an Old Man Ale. If you like to experience something a little bit of the beaten path try the No.9 Barley Wine. The atmosphere fits to this place that saw more than 400 years of history. Don't... More

We visited this pub 4/5 times during our weeks stay at torver. Great atmosphere, excellent range of ales and reasonably priced. The staff were very good even though each time they were very busy being half term week. Food is great, good portions but could do with more veggie options. Our first visit to the lakes and I am sure... More

Absolutely loved my visit to this pub! The local ales on tap are brilliant. The bluebird and the oatmeal stout were my favourites. There's a nice and relaxing atmosphere here with a mix of locals and tourists! It is very dog friendly as well.
