Last room available... A double for me and my sister and two small children... Not a problem. Room was lovely. Clean and tidy. Great spot. When we came to pay our bill it was £30 more than expected. Turns out the children's breakfasts were charged at £7.50 per child per day. I really am not exaggerating that my sisters girl... More

We stopped here after a long tiring walk from Ulverston. Good outdoor area...too many dogs..but good spot to have an ale. Very nice staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The food was average and a bit pricey. The roast chicken was about £10, salad a bit limp but okay. Not huge servings. Would look elsewhere next time but... More

Went for a meal with my wife, daughter and son on law. Oh and 3 dogs. There were plenty dogs there and none were any trouble. There were tables not cleared for a long time we had to clear some space ourselves. The food was not cheap for the area also it wasn't that special it was ok. They serve a... More

We were in one of the "cottages" which are really just out-buildings converted into bedrooms (but very pretty slate out-buildings!) and I suspect these rooms are slightly smaller than the bedrooms in the pub. It was fairly basic but comfortable - when you're in the Lakes how much time do you actually spend in the room? I think the big... More

We went here twice during our stay in Coniston to eat. The food was lovely, although expensive the menu had something on what everyone liked in comparison to other eateries in the area. We had a bit of a wait for food as the pub was packed on the Saturday night. However I would recommend this restaurant....and the beers good... More

Great if you're a dog lover, less so if you're not! We preferred not to share our evening meal with an array of man's best friends so only ate here once during our week in Coniston; that said I found the steak and ale pie to be delicious and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the sea bream. A real rustic feel... More

We spent Bank Holiday here. The inn was very busy but we were well looked after. On the first night, we couldn't get a table in the bar so one of the waitresses whisked us into the restaurant to get us fed. Breakfast was delicious and the staff at breakfast were really kind and friendly - as were all staff.... More

After a long walk, we got a great bench & table outside to people watch :) I think the service was slow today, took ages to get served . But they are very dog- friendly which is very welcome. And it's been a busy B/H weekend. Chatted to someone staying for one night B&B ... £100, £10 for a dog. My... More
