Absolutely loved my visit to this pub! The local ales on tap are brilliant. The bluebird and the oatmeal stout were my favourites. There's a nice and relaxing atmosphere here with a mix of locals and tourists! It is very dog friendly as well.

Really like this pub. Nice wood burning stove. Great range of tasty beer. Pretty good food although slightly limited veggie options. Welcoming to dogs and their muddy walker owners. They had a new beer Asrai which was lovely. They offer a really neat idea - you get three one thirds of different pints to test them out - fab idea... More

We went into the Bull pub 4/5/15. I waited 6.5minutes to be served, locals take priority here. Eventually was greeted with a 'yes?' . 'Two pints of bluebird & two sandwiches please'. 'what sandwiches?' 'Tuna & cheese please' ' We don't do tuna & cheese oh do you mean 1 tuna & 1 cheese' 'yes'. £18 for two pints &... More

We stayed for 2 nights with our dog. We were all made very welcome. We ate in the pub both evenings. Food was excellent. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice, even our dog was given a sausage. Quality of the room was good. Very clean and warm, which was very important to help dry off after our... More

The Black Bull Inn is very central & always popular with visitors but I don't think many people realise that the price of drinks does not compare well with other public houses in the village. We were charged £5.75 for a pint of beer & half of lager, whereas across the road at the Yewdale Hotel the cost is only... More

We stayed near Coniston last week and ate in the Bull on three occasions. Each time the food was hot, well presented and tasty. My final meal was the lamb steak with fresh asparagus, fantastic.... and the pils larger was brewed on site along with some other good beers

One of our favourites and a regular haunt on any visit to Coniston. A busy & popular little pub. The ales are brewed on site & there is plenty of choice. Food is generally simple pub grub, it's tasty & the portions sizes are good! Worth a busy after a hard days walking!

Just spent the weekend there with 3 mates for the second time. Location is excellent, customer service is second to none and the local ale is superb. Had twin rooms, not the most luxurious in I've stayed in but well presented and spotless. Definitely will return and definitely will stay here again. Special thanks to the breakfast team, always well... More

I love this place. I first visited in the mid-1990s shortly after the micro-brewery was established and I had a brewery tour. I've been back many times since and little changes, but it doesn't need to. One change since my last visit however was the adventurous nature of the food. I'm a plain food fan and you can get Cumberland... More
