We had a 3 night stay at the hotel. The hotel is very good for an experience of Coniston. It is very clean and well maintained. The selection on the menu is very limited so we travelled into Ambleside every evening to eat out. I found the breakfast had been on the hotplate for a while. The lounge area was nice... More

We decided to book a wowcher deal staying at the Waterhead Hotel in Coniston. We were not disappointed. The hotel was very inviting and we did pay extra for a lake view, which we decided was not worth the £20 per night supplement because you are not really in your room in the daytime long enough to appreciate the extra... Had a good stay in a large group of men walkers. Hotel met all our objectives and all agreed we would return. My room was unfortunately the worst of them with two small singles and inoperative heating as was the case in some other rooms. I was told it was a cold room anyway which was born out by the... More

Another lovely weekend in Coniston. This time we booked a suite and on arrival were shown to the Courtyard Suites and given the 1st floor room, Rafters Suite, which was absolutely boiling. Once we turned the heating down and opened a few windows we unpacked & looked about. Cosy sitting room, nice bathroom with shower over the bath (mind your... More

The Hotel is in a good location right next to the lake with just a five minute walk into Coniston, the food was excellent and served in a lovely dining room overlooking the lake, our very comfortable room was at the top of the hotel so we had a few steep steps to climb as lift only goes to 1st... The Waterhead Hotel is a comfortable hotel, great food, well appointed bedrooms, a lift to first floor, attentive staff, lovely grounds to walk round on side of lake, a short walk through fields to Bluebird Café in Coniston and boat trips on the lake.

The hotel was in a very good location overlooking the the lake abd was near the pier for docking the cruise. Thought the free cruise and free cream tea was lovely as we may not have done the cruise otherwise which we really enjoyed. On the downside, check in is really late, 3pm and it was absolutely torrential rain the... More

We used our two vouchers for afternoon tea from red letter vouchers. We were early but we were greeted and shown to our seats straight away. The service was fantastic, as many refills of tea and coffee. We had two platters of sandwiches - ham and mustard, egg, smoked salmon, tomato and cheddar and prawns. We had tiered deserts where...
