Lovely room, large comfortable bed and newly decorated too. Breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant one evening, it was an interesting menu, but perhaps not to our taste. However the food we had was nicely cooked and served on a hot plate. Will visit again.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend in Coniston staying at the Waterhead. The Hotel is very well placed with a short stroll into the village and easy access to the lake and various walks. We found all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal on our first night - all 3 courses were... More

Had a wonderful time at the waterhead hotel. With two very young children it can be tricky having these breaks away however the team at he waterhead once again have excelled in providing a fantastic stay, would highly recommend the food, both breakfast and evening meal were fantastic.

Friendly staff, but the interior lets it down. The decor is pretty drab and out of date, although the restaurant has been recently refurbished - so is pretty modern. Breakfast was absolutely superb! Dinner was very good, but the lighting in the restaurant is quite bright, so the ambience is a little stark!

We booked at 2 day break between Christmas and New Year and despite the poor weather we had a lovely time. The hotel is in a lovely location on the shores of the lakes and views of the mountains. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The hotel is dog friendly and although not allowed in the restaurant, were allowed... More

We had booked a room that stated it had mountain views.. If over looking the kitchen was a mountain view then Barrack Obama is my dad. The hotel itself needed fairly upgrading, how chargin £80 per person, per room was acceptable for the room view and size itself is beyond me! The hallways constantly creek when someone is walking up... More

Stayed here for two nights in December for our wedding anniversary. The Waterhead has a beautiful location overlooking Coniston Water with its own landing stage for the steam gondola. It's an easy five or so minutes walk from Coniston village. It's a very attractive building with historic links to John Ruskin and Charles Darwin. The service was exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the... Excellent stay, staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly. Stayed for 2nights on the New Year package, the 7 course Cumbrian Taster Menu was superb. The rooms at the hotel are clean, well furnished and comfortable. If any of your party has mobility issues then you need to book a room on the ground or first floor as... More

If you want a swanky obsequious hotel don't bother coming here. If you want to stay in a wonderful location where you are made to feel comfortable and welcome by staff who are warm and friendly book now. We stayed for one night booked at the last minute and had a lovely stay on a four poster room. The room... More
