We recently stayed at the Old Rectory and would have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers, We booked dinner in advance and the menu choice was adapted with no problem to meet our needs. The breakfast was lovely and the rooms were very comfortable with nice touches such as fresh milk in the mini bar, home made cakes... More

I can recommend the Old Rectory with no hesitation. My wife and I stayed there for two nights, and had it not been for our flight leaving next day, we would have enjoyed a longer stay. The room was clean and welcoming, the bed very comfortable, a mini bar with a good selection of drinks, a coffee maker and the... More

Very welcoming. Met with tea in sitting-room with home baking. Further home-baking in our room. Superb views from the dining room. Dinner menu looked excellent, but must be pre-booked. Will certainly stay here again.

Our stay at The Old Rectory was ideal. We made a very last minute booking and arrived at an awkward time but everything was taken care of. Our room was very nice, comfortable beds and strong hot showers. The home made flap jack with the coffee's and tea was very tasty and a nice touch. There was plenty of breakfast... More

The Old Rectory has a warm and welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful setting overlooking rolling green hills and only two miles from Coniston. We stayed 3 nights here to explore the Lakes area. On arrival, we were greeted by the host and offered a choice of two bright, airy and delightfully furnished rooms. We chose "Potter", the smaller room, as... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. The room was delightful, with double aspect, if somewhat pink. Although it is a B & B, it is possible to have an evening meal, if you are prepared to accept the main course. There is, however, a small selection for starter and dessert. We found the meals were very good,... More

We spent 2 nights here, staying in the Garden room, which is separate from, but close to, the main house and welcomes a dog. We happened to be the only guests on those days but very much enjoyed it and of course, had great service at the dinner we had one night and breakfast! The welcome was warm and we... More

Arrived to be welcomed by tea and cake, sherry in our room, very comfortable! This B&B serves dinner if ordered in advance and this is an absolutely delicious 4 course meal, and a good wine list. The Old Rectory is just outside Torver, and a very peaceful location with Coniston a short drive away. We enjoyed our stay!

The Old Rectory is just that - a rather grand family home that has been updated and modernised to become a really comfortable b & b/hotel in a really nice pretty and quiet location just outside Coniston. We were greeting with a lovely pot of tea and banana cake which we enjoyed on the terrace in the sunshine, looking out... More
