Stayed here on our second night while walking the Cumbria Way with my brother. A delightful setting with a genial and witty manager who is I fear responsible for a soulless , cold-feeling hostel with an inbuilt penny- pinching attitude. It stands in raised gardens complete with Sequoia trees and wigwams, however they are the few positives here, .A cold,... More

Thank you for your feedback. At the YHA we take all feedback very seriously. Firstly it is a shame you didn't bring any of this to our attention when at the hostel. We would have been more then willing to discuss any of the points you made. I'm sorry you were disappointed with our breakfast. As well as the cooked... More

Superbly well run hostel. Good self catering kitchen, nice restaurant food, well stocked bar for post walk recovery, comfortable lounge. Bedrooms clean and large. Good emphasis on everyone socialising together.

I stayed here twice this year for 2 swims. I originally stayed when I swam Coniston and camped out. I found accommodation in the Lake District to be extortionate (if there is any availability) so opted to camp at £12 a night! Self catering kitchen is stocked to the gunnels with any kitchen type equipment you might need, and 2... More

We camped here in July 2015, and found that this has a good combination of secluded camping plus access to all hostel facilities, including kitchen and toilets / showers. Five minute walk from Coniston village - off the main tourist track. Obviously, superb local walking - the Coniston Round is from your tent doorway! New Indian Restaurant now in Coniston... More

Big old Victorian house converted to use as a YHA hostel. Situated in its own large grounds on the outskirts of Coniston village. Parking on-site. Staff efficient, friendly and welcoming. Building is well maintained and decorated. Dorms spacious and comfortable. Modern toilets and showers. Guest kitchen a bit dated, but well equipped. Large comfy lounge. TV room in basement. Shops... We camped for the first time at Holly How YHA. The position of the YHA is great for getting into Coniston just a short walk away. However, the campsite requires quite a lot of work in order to make it more usable. The pitches were too small (if you turn up with a big tent you will struggle to fit... More

Stayed in a family room for 2 days. The room was clean & tidy. Lounge areas a decent size. Has an outside area to relax or eat on nice days. The staff were polite & helpful. I would definately recommend to others & will be planning to stay again in the future. The hostel is easy to find and the... More

Great location, friendly attentive staff and comfy beds. Public areas spacious in this hostel. Self catering kitchen due a revamp (leaking fridges, poor ovens etc). Tipis and camping in the ground too would be nice in summer! Recommended if you're after a hostel style accom in this area.

Tv room non available most evenings as teams of people in there doing talks and presentations and when finally got in last night couldn't... More
