Rooms are clean and we'll managed, hotel in general is a bit dated but kept well, the 2 points that let this hotel down are lack of choice from the basic menu ( mostly frozen chip cafe food) and although free to access the WiFi signal is shockingly bad so no good for business users, this hotel is suited for... Having left home at 6.30am and travelled to Cumbria from Hampshire we arrived in Cockermouth at 11.50 am and decided to call at the Shepherds Hotel to enjoy a Cumbrian All day breakfast which it said was served until 12 midday. A roadside sign said bacon & eggs £1.99. We were advised that the kitchen was now serving lunch and... More

I've been visiting this hotel since it was known as the sheep and wool centre as I'm from Cockermouth myself. Although the the decor is a little dated now that doesn't bother me mainly due to the friendliness of the staff. We came up on the weekend of the floods and I can't express enough how impressed I was by... More

We stayed here last weekend for one night on trip to the Lake District to go walking. The gentleman who greeted us on reception gave us a warm welcome and this set the standard for the friendliness and helpfulness of every member of staff we spoke to during our stay. I'd say in terms of service, we found it second-to-none.... More

We arrived to a warm welcome from the reception staff, the rooms were nice and warm with beautifully clean bathrooms. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of cereals and hot food to order. Very pleased with choice

visited this hotel this weekend as a couple. The hotel was booked in July but when we arrived we were told we had no booking, after we produced a copy of the confirmation we were reluctantly given the family room. The room was clean but being on a corner overlooking the busy roundabout it was noisy most of the night.... More

This was not the best hotel we have stayed in by a distance but for a 3 star was good value. The staff were wonderful particularly Janet, who was extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms were of a travel lodge type standard but clean and well proportioned, the bed very comfortable , the shower was refreshing and hot,the food well cooked and location... Very welcome reception. Booked family room very clean and great shower area. However 2nd bed was a bed sofa which had a very thin mattress on it which was not good at all. Ate in the hotel in the evening and the Cod was delicious. The morning breakfast was varied and ok. Would visit again

Me and my mum stayed here for one night as we had to rush upto cumbria for a funeral and the premier inn we normally stay at was fully booked. The room was very clean, the beds extremely comfortable and we thought the standard of room was no different to the premier inn. The bathroom was lovely and shower was... More
