This was our second stay in a matter of months. This little place is hidden away and is great for a quiet break walking some of the most beautiful lakes. We enjoyed Lowswater, Buttermere and Ennerdale while in the area. We had a room on the back of the hotel which had a lovely view of the garden. We enjoyed... More

The house is smaller than I thought, with only 7 bedrooms but this makes it even more exclusive. We had a bedroom overlooking the walled garden which was comfortable and fairly spacious. The ensuite shower room is finished to a high standard. My only grumble would be the waste macerator/shredder which was a bit annoying when it went off in... More

My daughter & I had a wonderful time here, the welcome was second to none and the staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. Our room was very well appointed & spotlessly clean with everything we could possibly want and a very comfortable bed too. The evening meal was of very high standard and well worth having, the breakfast menu... More

We had a relaxing midweek stay. Both breakfast and evening meal were really good. The new manager Tom is a wonderful new addition to the small team and is really trying to make Winder Hall a special experience for guests. We walked up to the pub for our meal one night and were a bit disappointed in the food on... More

Stayed at winder hall for 2 nights on a voucher. Lovely old house, and nice efficient staff. Room was spacious with lovely view, a 4 poster, and well decorated bathroom. Only issue was the very loud macerator which drove us mad. Restaurant food was hit and miss, breakfast lovely but evening meal not up to what we expected. Some of... More

We visted Winder Hall for our second time this week and could not speak too highly of the standards of food, service and overall hospitality. It can't be easy to achieve the balance between relaxed atmosphere and high standards but Nick and his team have managed it. We particularly enjoyed our evening dinner in the Cedar Tree where the food... More

The garden and the house itself make a great location to host wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and any other large event. But the atmosphere of the house remains cozy and intimate. The staff was kind and made us feel like we were no guests, but some sort of habitual family friends. The garden is spectacular, as it is the location... More

We had a very pleasant stay in this old country house, the room was spacious and although a little dated it was very clean and tidy. The staff were welcoming and the lounge was delightful. We had dinner on the one night and the food was excellent as were the breakfasts. We would be happy to visit again.

We got married at Winder in early January and throughout the whole process of picking a venue to tailoring the day to our needs we were very well looked after by the guys and girls. Right from the first day we went to see the venue, Nick made us feel very welcome and relaxed about the whole affair. There was... More

Bit late writing this review as we stayed here back in October. But what a delightful place. We stayed at Winder Hall on a Voucher deal £109.00 for 2 nights bed and breakfast. We also decided to have the 4 courses for £25 which was delicious. The food is as good as any rosette/michelin star restaurant! Breakfast delicious too. We... More
