We have just returned after a weekend celebrating my mothers 70th birthday. On arrival we were all met by Simon and shown around the grounds and to our rooms. The hotel is a wonderful old country house in a beautiful setting. The rooms were traditionally furnished and very comfortable with everything you need and wonderful views. After unpacking we were... Thank you very much Alan, it’s always great to have such feedback from our guests. I’m so glad that you all enjoyed your stay and that your mother had such a good weekend. It was an absolute pleasure to look after you and your family, so full of fun and energy it made it a great weekend for us too.... More

We booked the Hobcarton room for our anniversary and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. A very friendly welcome, a clean and spacious room with reasonable furnishings and an impressive 4 poster bed. Only niggle on the room was the shower was in a small space and with an overhead shower head only, I didn't want to wet... More

Visited Winder Hall twice now and this place just gets better. Not sure how they do it as first time around was perfect. How do you improve on perfect? Well I will tell you how, throw in excellent service, fantastic food and stunning scenery, helped by amazing weather and lovely guests, that's how. We will be back again for a... More

Stayed the weekend because we were in the locality at a friends wedding. The setting is stunning and the grounds are very pretty. The little village is just outside the premises, there is a pub with an integral shop ( very limited stock due to size), but they do sell newspapers. Breakfast was well cooked and the staff are very... More

The welcome we received on arrival was extremely friendly which was an inviting start to our stay at the beautiful Winder Hall Country House. The customer service was second to none. The room was clean and very welcoming. The food both at dinner and breakfast was excellent. Would certainly recommond this hotel to others.

The staff were amazing and bent over backwards to help out in any way they could to ensure our wedding day was everything we'd hoped for - intimate, relaxed, problem-free, and fun. The kitchen team did a particularly great job of catering to our particular (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free) dietary requirements and the honesty bar was a great touch. The location... More

Found this Hotel when looking for a 1 night break near Cockermouth. Stunning location in a lovely rural setting. This Hotel retains an olde world charm, but has modern amenities ie a lovely jacuzzi and a sauna, not to mention wifi and large flat screen TV's. The lounge has comfy sofas and an honesty bar when the staff are unavailable.... More

We arrived at Winder Hall and were made welcome straight away. There was an feeling of suddenly winding down and relaxing. The hotel isn't a 5 star but we a weren't looking for that.. We wanted peace and quiet and beautiful views. That's what we got. The staff were friendly, helpful and not stuck up or pompous. Our room was... More

Just back from our second visit to Winder Hall. We also stayed last October and enjoyed it just as much this time around. The hall and its surroundings are delightful. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. We stayed 2 nights B & B on a voucher deal again, which is great value for money, and treated ourselves to a... More
