Lovely room, nicely decorated, cozy feel. Breakfast was very good, tasty and good portions. Real orange juice and fruit. The little touches make all the difference. Excellent location as we were canoeing on the lake. Would definitely stop again.

While at the high end of B&B cost to stay there are enough additional benefits to make it worth the bit extra. Parking is no problem and our front room had a spectacular view of the Bassenthwaite lake and the stark Skiddaw fells beyond. Our room was clean and quite large and a great bed for someone with a bad... More

Fairy expensive hotel for what you get, we stayed in a small-ish room with the bathroom located across the hall. Sadly, the bathroom didn't have a fixed wall shower, just a bath extension with no shower screen so showering was difficult (it was more the type of bath used to wash dogs). The walls were fairly thin, i was woken... More

The room type that you had booked (via LateRooms) starts with the following description on the LateRooms website;- ‘Our Small Double rooms have fantastic lake views and their own private bathroom located just across the corridor’. So it should not have been a surprise to you that the double room you stayed in is ‘small-ish with the bathroom located across... More

This is such a quaint B&B, I really enjoyed my 3 nights here. I had a double room to myself with views out across the lake and on towards Skiddaw. The couple that run this B&B are very kind and friendly, with two gorgeous Spaniels who I had many lovely cuddles with. Really good breakfast also, and the room and... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in august and had a great time. Claire and Stephen are wonderful hosts and the guest house is well situated on Bassenthwaite Lake. It is a great base to explore places like Keswick, Grasmere, Ambleside, Cockermouth etc. We stayed in room 6 which has a view across the lake of Skiddaw. The breakfast in... More

We've just returned after a 2 night break and can not recommend highly enough. We stayed in a room overlooking the lake, Rooms were extremely comfortable, no noise from other guests, and the option to sit in the lounge with the honesty bar! Breakfast was outstanding - would return just for the breakfast alone!

We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights in May as we were attending a wedding locally. We couldn't rate the owners high enough. We were late arriving in the evening due to traffic and this wasn't a problem at all with the owners. Our rooms were lovely with a lake view and the breakfast on each morning was great. Claire... Sixth year staying here so that must tell you something! Always feel welcome and at home. The sort of place you can go to breakfast in your slippers. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. They do a perfect poached egg too.

My wife decided to take me to the lake district for my 50th birthday knowing i have always wanted to see the Ospreys on Bassenthwaite lake.First impression was excellent (don't understand why people have moaned about the gravel drive and the tight entrance !!) its in keeping with the rural surroundings. We were promptly checked in and given a brief... More
