My wife and I, my two grown up daughters and grown up son booked into 3 rooms for one night. We were up for a family birthday celebration. The rooms were large, warm and very comfortable. No complaints from anyone. The parking is tight if you have a large car, because it is a tight turn into the entry but its... More

........that's the greeting you get at the Wordsworth. This hotel is owned/run by a family of sisters from Essex. It is centrally located and gas a vibrant bar with entertainment at weekends. The room was lovely and clean, and was quite glitzy/glam but the bed was comfy as were the pillows. There is a very secluded car park to the... More

We stayed here for just one night and wish we'd had longer. The hotel is very conveniently located on the main street, close to pubs and restaurants. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a modern en suite bathroom. We had a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and iron with ironing board. Although the... More

The initial call was a surprise as every sentence was ended with yes babe, the owners are from Essex. However the greeting when we got there was wonderful and friendly. We were asked when we wanted breakfast not told when it would be served. The room we got had a four poster in it. The decour is as you would... More

This hotel has two faces - a downstairs glitzy bar and an upstairs with more conventional guest rooms. Our room was of a good size, clean, with a very comfortable bed and quilt; the ensuite had a full bath as well as shower and was likewise of good size. As downstairs the décor reflects the bubbly nature of the sisters... More

Stayed bank holiday weekend with group of friends. Location good in centre of Cockermouth. Hotel is conveniently surrounded by pubs and shops (Greggs opposite, Spar and cashpoint close by). Digging up road outside to improve drainage and prevent future flooding after 2009 disaster. Will be nice once done and pedestrianised like further up road. Hotel is basically a lively pub... More

A hotel/pub run by two Essex girls with bedroom decor I assume designed by Bett Lynch.Sorry the decor was gaudy, but obviously went hand in hand with the irritating wall to wall football on the plasma TV's mounted in the breakfast area.Surely a news station would be more appropriate(with sub titles) at that time of a morning instead of a string... Have no complaints here - staff were really friendly, helpful and good fun. Stayed on a Sunday evening for a wedding so it was naturally quiet. Bed and bathroom clean and more than adequate. Breakfast good. Would easily return.
