Location was good easy to find . Room was a good size but at the front of the hotel so lots of road noise and could hear people talking in the bar below . Bar food was very good and good size portions ,would eat here if staying somewhere else.Breakfast was just average.

Loved every minute of it! We had a standard double room but it was huge! Staff couldn't do enough for us, I emailed for additional extras to be in our room for arrival, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing although we had over-indulged the previous night! Couldn't fault this Hotel will definitely be back even though its... More

Great hotel. Lovely room with everything provided. The breakfast was beautiful with fresh local produce. The staff were attentive and helpful and even loaned me some cufflinks as I'd forgotten mine. Overall thoroughly recommended.

The Trout is well known for being the best spot to lay your head and eat well in Cockermouth, I was however slightly disappointed. Our room was fantastic, large, comfy beds and perfect for a family of 4 with the TV in front of the bath a big hit with the teenage kids but a mIssing light bulb, high up... More

An absolutely long weekend at The Trout. Beautiful hotel, staff were very good and the restaurant meals were delicious. Perfect. Decoration of the rooms was traditional in style, very much in keeping with the style of the hotel.

Carrot & coriander soup and an assiette of seafood for starters, Beef Stroganoff with rice & Trout with spinach and new potatoes for mains with Eton mess & an assiette of sweets for deserts. The service is... More

Everything I expected lived up to the promise. Some of the plumbing was noises but didn't cause me any trouble when I wanted to sleep. Food was great and the staff very friendly. The heating was a little warm but with the windows open I could regulate the temperature. The car park can be a bit busy if the the... More

I can't thank the staff at The Trout Hotel enough for giving us exactly the wedding reception we wanted. Not only was the room set out beautifully but everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic day, from the canapés in the gardens to the fantastic food in the derwent restaurant. All of our guests... More

Stayed 2 nights in the junior suite. Room very nice, clean and comfortable. Small problem with the shower not draining away quick enough and despite me reporting it, it didn't get fixed but it was not a major problem and didn't spoil our stay. Catering Staff all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. First night we ate in... More
