Greeted by welcoming and friendly staff and that continued throughout my stay. Room was decorated lovely and very clean. Food in the terrace bar was good. I had an early start and they provided an early breakfast which is so unusual. Absolutely perfect!

Sometimes returning to a place where you've had a great time is not a good idea but I'm pleased to say that our second stay at The Trout was definitely no disappointment. It's peaceful, well-located and very comfortable and the staff are warm and welcoming - a special thanks must go to Tracy for sorting out a small problem for... More

I really liked the comfort of the place and the semi peaceful gardens to relax in, the only noise I could hear was that of the traffic from the main road but it was minimal and the relaxed surroundings of the gardens made you feel special. The staff were very good too and in our two night stay I noted... More

A lovely hotel which is tucked away by the river at Cockermouth. The rooms are brilliant, the food is astounding and the staff very friendly. A must if you are looking at staying in the lake district. The hotel is situated by the river cocker which you can sit by in the grounds and enjoy a drink (weather permitting).

I stayed here on business earlier this week.I was very surprised by the quality of the room, but better than the normal standard for this area. I had a river facing room on the ground floor. The room is surprisingly large, with a very spacious bathroom. Large TV and a desk to do some work. The only thing I missed... More

What a lovely place to stay before a work conference, had a one night stay in a standard room on 12th June 2014, which was very spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, great service in the morning for breakfast plenty of choice and well cooked. I will definately be back for a... More

If you are visiting the Lake District, it's worth going out of your way to stay at The Trout Hotel. Lovely setting by the River Derwent, delightful hotel, top class food in the restaurant and excellent breakfast. All at a very competitive price.

Very good hotel in central Cockermouth, professional staff, excellent breakfast, can't fault the experience. Lovely rooms, very clean, we didn't have an upgraded or refurbished room but really couldn't complain. Room 303 was in the old part, overlooking the Terrace Bar, very quiet, if not a bit warm. Lovely to sit out by the river for a drink, having said... More

Great place for lunch. Lovely bar area and bistro so great choice. The menu suits either those wanting a full cooked meal or something more simple yet equally substantial as a wrap... recommend the Duck wrap. This classy bar/restaurant/hotel excels in customer service....drinks are served from the bar at the table, the menu is varied, table service attentive. A popular... More

I recently stayed at this hotel along with other members of my family. We booked the executive rooms, which were a little more spacious, light and airy with gorgeous sheets and bedding which you could sink into after a day out walking. Check in was efficient and friendly and we got to choose the room which we liked best, which... More
