Stayed at this hotel for two nights over valentines weekend. The place is ideally positioned for exploring the western lake district with lots of days out, activities and places of interest close by. Just outside cockermouth with great views over the northern lake district. Friendly staff large 4 poster room plentey of hot water spacious. Old world feel,comprehensive bar, great breakfast. Excellent restaurant. more

We have just returned from a lovely weekend break at this hotel in the Lake District, which turned out to be just what we were looking for - quiet and relaxing. Friendly northern hospitality, not too intrusive. Beautiful fresh food cooked for you. If you have a full evening meal dont expect to have capacity for breakfast. Their full breakfast will last all day. Pleasant gardens on the edge of the lakes with easy walks in the area. All fine as long as you like peacocks more
