I couldn't recommend the waterwheel any more! We stayed for two nights over the new year and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Nigel and Julie were fantastic hosts who spare no expense in all the little details as well as the big. Our welcome was lovely and friendly. We were given a parking pass for the local and a few... If your looking for a good quality B & B look no further! We have previously stayed in hotels in the Lakes but opted for a B & B as the hotel New Year package prices were expensive. Well what a good decision as we would definitely stay here again instead of a hotel. The Stockgyhll room is decorated to... More

After our first great stay at the waterwheel we came back for a second visit. Just as nice as remembered. Warm, clean and a beautiful breakfast. Perfect location, great hosts. Loved every minute of it, would come back for a third time.

This was our second visit to the Waterwheel and it was lovely, very homely feel to the place, and Nigel and Julie made us feel so much at home, the breakfasts were wonderful, can't wait to go back there again x

This is a beautiful little b&b in a great location. The room was lovely, clean with a big bathroom and roll top bath, the owners looked after us well (recommending a great walk) and the breakfast was really good too. Overall a really perfect nights stay in ambleside.

Stayed here last week for few nights. It is tucked away very close to the centre of Ambleside by the ghyll and waterwheel - mill opposite, so it's easy to find. If you drive, they will provide a permit for the local car pk about 5 mins walk away. Lovely, friendly couple running it met us at the door and... More

We had a 3 night stay here and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Having never been to Ambleside before, we weren't sure which B&B to select, but chose the Waterwheel as it was small, appeared to be tucked away, and was in a quaint old building. Our attic bedroom with a huge ensuite was delightful and comfortable. The... More

From the personal greeting to the wave goodbye we found this gem of a place that I would recommend to visitors in Ambleside. The whole place is perfect. Clean beyond belief with lots of little personal touches. The rooms are beautifully and elegantly decorated all with ensuite bathrooms. Soft towels and everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Our... More

From station pick up to drop off our stay and hosts couldn't have been better. The Waterwheel is a charming and very homely guesthouse and location-wise is perfect - close to everything Ambleside has to offer, a short walk from Windermere lake and the falls and a short taxi journey to Holbeck Ghyll if you want to treat yourself! Nigel... More

We visit the lakes several times a year and have been doing so for over 10 years. Waterwheel is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Lovely room, lovely breakfast and central position. They also provide a car park pass which is brilliant. Other B&Bs that don't have their own parking just tell you the free hours. Highly... More
