We had a fantastic stay at the Rysdale, Allan was so friendly and helpful. We had room 6, which I was able to choose after seeing pictures of all the rooms on the website. It was lovely, really nicely decorated, such a pleasant room with a lovely view, we couldnt stop looking out the window! Fantastic location in Ambleside, a... more

I have been regularly choosing to stay at the Rysdale since june 2008. I am a mature female student at the university, which in september i stayed for two weeks. I have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness and this B&B is spotless. The choice of breakfasts is vast , be it continental, english bfast, or a choice... more

Our 3-night stay at the Rysdale could not have been better. Our rooms were very clean and of a size commensurate with guest house accommodation. The owner - Allan - could not have been more welcoming. The breakfasts (served 8.30-9am) were substantial with an excellent selection to suit all tastes. Having stayed in other guest houses in Ambleside, we would... more

We stayed at the Rysdale for 3 nights and also in room six and loved it, yes the bathroom is not made for having a party in but lets face it, you shower and visit the loo and thats it! The room was very pretty and the views out the big windows were great for mountain views and people watching... more

We stayed in Rm #6. It's tiny, especially the bathroom. The room is decorated tastfully and dreamily, the large windows looking out are grand.. but it's right on the main drag. Anyone who drives through the town passes right in front of this B&B. The website shows a beautiful view of the old church across the street... the sad thing... more

Really enjoyed my stay here. The accomodation was great, and the couple who run it couldn't have been more friendly, decent and eager to please. Located in the centre of Ambleside - very close to all the amenities, yet very quiet and relaxing. My room was cosy (in the homely, not the cramped sense of the word), and clean with... more

We have once again had a great weekend in the lake district staying at the Rysdale. The welcome was very warm and friendly from Allan who once again showed us to our beautiful room. The room was cleaned to a very high standard and everything in it was perfect. We sat in the guest lounge on a evening for a... more

The problems started when I arrived to be told the on-drive parking space I had booked had been promised to 3 other guests. Given the parking problems in Ambleside this is a nightmare! The room was so small there wasn't much space for me to get in once I'd put my kit in! The hot tap produced very little water... more

The Rysdale is a warm and welcoming haven in an otherwise frosty little town. It is very welcoming and it is absolutely spotless. The rooms are very well appointed and the decor is lovely. I wish all B&Bs were like this! Once outside the Rysdale, however, we found the atmosphere in Ambleside very unwelcoming. The White Lion Hotel in particular... more

After much consideration and trawling of many web pages we decided to book this b & b in Ambleside. We booked through a third party and when the email came back from the b & b to confirm our booking the dates were wrong, a quick phone call to the b & b soon resolved this and our booking was... more
