I booked with The Howes weeks before and sent £70 as deposit, but I should have taken warning from the telephone conversation with the lady. She asked me for my phone number, after I had arranged when we were going to stay, which I gave her. She said they would send me confirmation via email (and not by post as... more

I have been looking after guests for 15 years in Ambleside & approx 80 % of my guest return for a 2nd visit. To send a confirmation email letter is the norm and to ask for an expected time of arrive very necessary! How could we funtion otherwise? The ETA came in on the day of arrival at 6.40 am!!!!!!!!...

we stayed at the howes for two nights for my brothers wedding me my mum my gran whos 92 and a friend we had a wonderful time mike and gill couldnt do enough for us we were made to feel very welcome and it felt like home from home the rooms were beautifully clean and smart i would highly recomend... more

We booked accomodation at the Howes in July this year mainly because the web site said that dogs were welcome. We checked with the owners before arrival that we could bring our dog and his travel cage. When we arrived we were told that the dog could not be left in the room when we went out for dinner -... more
