Lovely place, friendly happy staff, nice location. Prices very reasonable. Starters of mushroom pepper pots were very nice. Main courses were equally enjoyable however I had ordered my steak to be cooked medium-rare, and my steak arrived with a pulse! Luckily I do not mind eating it like this. Good basic bed and breakfast. Book Room 1, at £70 B&B,it is huge and looks down the high street, and has seats on a raised platform to watch the world go by. Good quality, reasonably priced evening meal. Large breakfast featuring 2 of everything. Service very friendly and quick. more

My wife and I had a 2 night stay here on weekend of 27th January along with another couple. The hotel staff were extemely friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was ensuite and was large and very clean, we had room 6 which over looked the hotels carpark. The towels were changed each day .The breakfast was very good and plentiful.... more

The White Lion is well situated in Ambleside main street. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and immaculate.
