Just stayed for 2 nights at the Ambleside Lodge, its our second visit there and we will definately be staying again. Although it is not your Boutique Style Hotel, it is clean, welcoming and very warm and comfortable. Breakfast is one of the best we have had, lots of variety and cooked to perfection. Will be going back soon.

Paul the owner ensured our stay exceeded all our expectations in terms of accomodation and local restaurant options. Our large bedroom ( room 12 ) was very well furnished with fabulous views of the town and countryside. The breakfast was cooked to order and served in a pleasant dining room with an excellent choice of starters. No stupid DIY toasters... More

Firstly let me say that I was not looking forward to this short break. The previous experience we had, plus the negative reports, really had me worried, but I can honestly say we had a fabulous time. Our room (14) is a large room, it has a king size 4 poster bed, with lovely white crisp, clean bed linen. Everything... More

Stayed here at the back end of this summer for a weekend away. We were walked to our room on arrival. The room itself was surprisingly spacious with nice large windows, letting plenty of natural light. The bathroom was nice and big too. The beds were very comfy, both me and my partner slept straight through. In the morning we... More

We arrived late after a nightmare journey and checked in around 8 15.pm. This was no problem as we had phoned ahead to explain why we were going to be late. Owners were very understanding and welcoming. We were given room 19 next to the front door which was brilliant as we had our dog with us and it was... More

Stayed here recently through a deal offer, was a bit apprehensive as Id looked at the reviews beforehand but was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as everyones tastes are different. On arriving we saw Jean who was busy ironing, we rang the number that was left next to the telephone on reception, Paul answered the phone... More

Really uncomfortable bed, the mattress was very run down that the springs were digging in your back which resulted in lack of sleep and a bad back. The plumbing is on its way out and the toilet didn't flush. Such a shame as we was looking forward to a childfree weekend with a nice lie in.

I discovered Ambleside Lodge via an internet website, it particularly appealed to me because it had "FREE cancellation". I was looking to book a group holiday for a five us as we were climbing Scafell Pike. I rang to ensure I could get all bookings together. Jacqueline informed me she would send a confirmation email but after a few days... More
