Management response from

Ambleside lodge is very competativley priced and offers good value for money. I have waited before responding to this review (07/07/09), to enable me to check with trading standards and the AA as to the true nature of this complaint. Neither body have any record of any complaint. If this reviewer would like to write or phone us at Ambleside...

The lodge was ideal for us. The owners happily accommodated our small group all in en-suites, 2 of which were bathrooms and the other with a large walk in shower enclosure which doubled as the dog room. The use of the health club towards Langdale was a significant bonus.I would happily consider returning here. The Logde offer a variety of... more

We have just returned from our first wedding anniversary and It couldnt have been more perfect. I really dont understand the bad reviews. This is a family run B&B, NOT a hotel, and that is made clear when you book. If you are going to arrive late at night, arrangements are made for you to get your key, so there... more

I booked a stay for myself and my partner for our first visit to the lakes. We were very impressed with the accomodation and Penny who dealt with us during our stay. Lovely surroundings, lovely room and lovely breakfast. We were given recommendations on where to eat which Penny followed up the next morning with us whilst having our breakfast.... more

We stayed at the Ambleside Lodge in June on a short break. We found the owners to be friendly and accommodating with good local knowledge. The rooms were large, bright and airy and very clean with ample tea, coffe and biscuits etc. The breakfast was as hearty or light as you wanted it to be and very enjoyable. We were... more

As I drove into the car park at 18:45, my first impression was Wow! I grabbed my bag and pressed the bell at reception, whilst awaiting someone to greet me I read an impressive newspaper article 'frame mounted' on the wall...the article was singing the praises of the owners Paul and Penny and set the standard of service I expected.... more

I really can't understand why anyone would want to say anything bad about Ambleside Lodge. We stayed there for three days over the May Bank Holiday for my husbands 40th birthday and we had a fantastic time. The lodge is run by Paul and Penny and their Family, who were very friendly and helpful. Infact you couldn't wish for nicer people. The... more

We enjoyed our stay at the A.L. The staff were very friendly and the room (No. 11) was very pleasant with beautiful views of the hills. Very little noise came through from other guests' rooms so we were undisturbed and slept very well. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts on offer were hearty or light, depending on whether you prefer... more

We stayed at the Ambleside Lodge for two nights and found all the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. The owners managed to accommodate us despite an error in the original booking made by a third party website. When we arrived earlier than expected there was no problem getting us checked in, and we were advised if our room... more

We stayed here early May as a last minute break. Arrived on spec to find very helpfull people who showed us two rooms. We looked at both and decided to take room 1. This was very well furnished and comfortable. They even said we could bring our own wine and they gave us a corkscrew and glasses! The room was... more
