We travelled to Ambleside from Glen Eagles golf course on a pleasant summers day but with a threat of reain. A picturesque journey and we came with a sense of mild apprehension given some mixed reviews. We found Lake Road and CherryGarth wiith ease and immediately enjoyed the garden and we were greeted by a friendly person working in the... more

We stayed for a weekend and really enjoyed it here.Cherry Garth is a wonderful old traditional Lakeland house and the owners should be congratulated for keeping the houses original features - I particularily liked the beautiful sash windows; the thick wooden beams are amazing. The room was very comfortable and the furnishings sumptuous. We are regular visitors to The Lake District... more

This hotel is advertised as a small family run hotel. We arrived mid afternoon, parked the car at the front and made our way up some stairs into the garden at the front. The garden was lovely but I found the entrance to the hotel unclear. It was round the side, but there was no signage. We were shown to... more

Have just returned from a two night stay. We did not book this B&B until the weekend before we were due to arrive so therefore were limited in our choice. The only room they had left was a "superior double room" which was £95 per night. The welcome we received was very nice and we were shown to our room... more

We found Cherry Garth through Laterooms as we wanted to stay in Ambleside the night before a friend's wedding. The reduced rate of £65 instead of £75 being the deciding factor. The hotel's location is great in that it's only a minute up the road from the centre of Ambleside and good for a lot of the local walking routes.... more

We arrived at Cherry Garth very late in the day in September 2008, having been greatly let down by another B&B in Ambleside concerning a confirmed booking which we made months before. We were feeling very jaded and wary when we walked into the reception to see if there were any vacancies but all those feelings vanished very quickly when... more

When our eldest daughter decided to attend university in the lakes, my husband and I looked forward to many weekend breaks, and subsiquent hotel stays in the guise of visiting; and unfortunatly in most places we have been disappointed. That was until, by chance we were recommended the Cherry Garth. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their... more

The hotel photos provided by the hotel first off are VERY deceptive, they portray a small hotel situated in a pleasant gardens amongst the hills of the Lake District, to a degree this is true, but as you can see from the photos I've added, it is in fact situated right upon the local throughfare, and the gardens don't stretch... more

Very run down place and very old fashioned. Stayed in a room which was up in the loft. Could not even look out a window. Floors creaked and bed was not at all comfortable. Bathroom was quite a good size, but so old fashioned. Green bathroom suite-awful. More like the 60's accommodation. Breakfast was not great and they had a... more
