We stayed at the end of February to celebrate our wedding anniversary. At first glance the hotel looks slightly down at heel, but once inside the welcoming reception that all changes. We had a courtyard room as that was all that was left when we booked. The bathroom did not have a bath, just a shower, but it was large... more

We have just returned from a "special offer" 5 night break, good value. Excellent breakfast with something for everyone and a very varied evening menu with wonderful local meat and fish. We stayed in a courtyard room with ensuite shower or Jacuzzi bath (bath highly recommended after a day walking in the hills). The bed was really comfortable. The only... more

as others have agreed the breakfasts here are fantastic, well cooked, great choice, great service and served until 12pm. the location is also brilliant and overall a good weekend. the rooms are ok, for the price, nothing fabulous but clean, beds a little hard and pillows not great. would consider staying again for 1 night to enjoy the location on... more

This place would be lovely if it had some money spent on it. We stayed in a garden room and it was done on the cheap. It could be fab...lovely location. I would NOT recommend for people wanting a romantic break as it felt a bit 80s. Breakfast til 12 though which was great and v nice. But still..... more

Lovely room and great hospitality. We were going to walk into town in light rain and the receptionist gave us a lift for which we were very grateful. Very clean and highly recommended more

We stayed at this hotel on my birthday weekend a few weeks ago. The room we had was very nice and a decent size, the bathroom was good too. The hotel was very clean and tidy, so much so I suspect it has been redecorated fairly recently. Service was very good and we were made to feel very welcome. The... more

We booked our stay for our anniversary and we stayed in the sail loft. The pictures online don't do it justice as it was a lovely big room and the view from the balcony was great. The bed was big and comfy and there was a good size TV and stereo. The bathroom was modern and well appointed. The staff... more

A fantastic location right opposite the lake and very handy for Ambleside whilst being located in a much quieter part. Room was well decorated, modern and clean, however looked out over the car park as most rooms did making it very dark and not a room you could sit in for long. Pool was very small not worth bothering with.... more

We found this hotel after endless hotel searches for Ambleside which seemed to bring up boring, dated looking hotels. The Regent Hotel was a refreshing change from this with its modern rooms, all recently furnished. The hotel lived up to the expectations set by the site. The rooms were of an excellent standard, and very clean. The hotel staff were... more
