My wife and I and our 7 month old have just returned from a 3 night stay at Brathay Lodge and we had a great time! We originally booked another hotel through booking.com but they messed up the reservation so offered us Brathay instead. I'm so glad we ended up moving here as the lodge was perfect for us. Really... Having stayed in many places in Ambleside, this is a little treasure and much more than just a B&B. Fabulous views over the park from the 1st floor four poster bed rooms at the front, but be prepared for carrying your bags up the stairs. Large, spacious, clean and comfortable room with the added luxury of a spa bath. Every... More

Stayed here as a family of 4 and were very impressed. Good points: comfy beds, buffet breakfast really very good (we were initially disappointed at the lack of a full English but the buffet selection was superb), spa bath excellent (especially loved by my children after a long walk), great location, allows dogs, convenient parking too. Nothing bad to report... More

Thank you for the trip advisor review. Apologies for the guest using the spa bath at 7am we do ask that guests avoid using between 10pm and 8.00am for the comfort of other guests. Glad the pet friendly family room was too your liking and that you enjoyed our continental buffet breakfast. Regards More

We chose a four poster room on the top floor, there are a few flights of steps to the top but it's worth it. The room is big, well lit and equipped with a jacuzzi. The views are stunning too! I do have some criticisms, one is that some sound proofing is needed, noise does travel, especially from the rooms... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Brathay Lodge. Were sorry you didn't make use of the Wi-Fi in the ground floor public areas and that our very successful continental breakfast wasn't to your liking however were glad the room size and views were what you were looking for. Regards More

My boyfriend, dog Harry and I have just got back from 3 nights stay and I was very impressed. The room was pet friendly and perfectly situated outside the main house which gave easy access to the car and on return from a long walk, it actually felt more like a self catering chalet, which we loved. It was bigger than... More

This was a very nice hotel with excellent breakfast very helpfull owner (Trevour) , we could not have been made more welcome. Our room was very clean and spacious the bathroom also. Travour knew lots about the area and we were able to pick his brains about the walks that were close to Ambleside.

My wife and I were unable to stay in our usual place so we took a risk with Brathay Lodge. We were met by a lovely hotel receptionist who covered everything. Plenty of reserved parking which allowed us to come and go as we pleased. In our opinion it was one up from a B&B. We enjoyed our stay and... More

we stayed overnight recently, booking 3 rooms - one dog friendly! All rooms were comfortable and we had a lovely stay in the dog friendly room which was conveniently located on the ground floor with direct access to the car park. It was very clean with fresh, white bed linen and it was a treat to relax in the jacuzzi... More

Stayed in the dog friendly lodge, which was just perfect. The location is ideal for the surrounding walks etc. It was a pleasure to be able to do the Fairfield Horshoe, walking out from the accommodation. Little pricey but comparable to similar accommodation in the area. Rooms toasty and warm and the bubble bath was fantastic as it was snowing... More
