Lovely stay for 2 nights in the Garden Suite with our dog Baylee. Great access straight into gardens and wooded area so very convenient if you are bringing your dog. Hotel is in a fantastic location for walking and right in the centre of Ambleside. Friendly team and brilliant breakfasts. Thank you for a wonderful time. Hope to see you... More

Lovely friendly people, clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast choice and located in a quiet location with a nice park adjacent for the dogs. Nice to have off road parking at the old vicarage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be bringing the dogs back again soon. located in the centre and only a half hour walk away... More

A comfortable, centrally located B&B in Ambleside which benefits from a nice heated swimmingbpo, sauna and hot tub, ideal to ease those aching legs after a walk around the Lakes. Also benefits from plenty of parking spaces and excellent choice of breakfast served every morning. Facilities in rooms good with TVs , DVDs wifi and good selection of DVDs /... More

Thank you so much for your recommendation and for highlighting the pool, sauna and hot tub - people who enjoying walking do appreciate these! Unfortunately we can't guarantee sunshine so the DVD collection and small library of books do help at certain times. We hope we can welcome you back to The Old Vicarage soon. More

all the staff were friendly and happy to help. every room we went into was very well maintained. they offered a good choice for breakfast. weather was good so we didnt use indoor pool, sauna and hot tub but they all looked clean and it would have been lovely to use them on a bad weather day. they welcome dogs.... A great review - thank you. We're always pleased to hear those positive staff comments - we're a family owned and managed business and we take great pride in it. We're delighted you had good weather when you stayed. It does occasionally rain here :) but the pool, sauna, hot tub, large dvd selection and small pool table do help... More

We had a very comfortable stay at the dog friendly Old Vicarage, a great B & B in a very convenient yet quiet location, just a short stroll from the centre of lovely Ambleside. It serves a good breakfast and has facilities which set it apart from many ordinary B & B's, including an indoor pool, sauna, large jacuzzi and... More

Thank you for your lovely review. When we put the pool, sauna and hot tub in, we were trying to set ourselves apart from other B&Bs in the area. Like yourselves, most people enjoy those extras and as you mention, the private parking is a real boon. Thanks for saying you'd return - that means we're doing something right and... More

Had 3 nights here for my partners birthday, as usual it was raining for most of our stay so we made good use of the pool and jacuzzi, also the library of films to watch. Liked our 'Upstairs Downstairs' room and as we are used to a superking bed at home it was nice not to have to compromise on... More

The swimming pool, hot tub and sauna really are a god send when the weather is particularly bad. Yes, there are lots of indoor attractions to visit, but sometimes it's great just to kick back and relax (in your bathrobe and slippers!). That's why we're also happy to encourage people to bring a bottle of wine back and sit out... More

My husband and I plus our 2 beagles stayed for one night in the Garden Suite. It was perfect. Upon arrival we were immediately made to feel welcome - dogs too! The Garden Suite is ideal if you have dogs. It has a large terrace area (much bigger than it looks in the photos) which is 100% secure. There is... More

One night is never seems enough, does it? We're pleased you're planning another visit and we'd be delighted to see you all again! As dog owners ourselves, we love having them to stay and yes, the Garden Suite is perfect for easy access to the grounds. We find that both our duplex suites are very popular with returning guests, they... More

Just spent 3 days at the Old Vicarage and had a lovely time. Amblesdie is poor for parking but you dont need to worry as there is plenty of parking at the B&B in the heart of the village and my car never moved. The superior room was spacious and light with all the amenities that you need. The bed... More

Abandoning your car in our private car park once you've arrived is a great tip for potential guests! You can easily walk to anywhere in the town and there is very easy access to some lovely walks locally. When you think about it, a 'bed' should be a really important part of 'bed and breakfast', so we're delighted you loved... More

We stayed for 2 nights 10-11 April. The OV is situated very close to the town centre and has a car park with enough spaces for all guests. This is a big plus in Ambleside where even the residents have trouble with their cars. Lakeland towns and villages just weren't built with mass car ownership in mind as I'm sure... More

Yes, parking can be an issue in Ambleside and we're delighted to have enough private parking for all our guests. Sorry to hear about next doors dogs. It's a surprisingly rare occurrence but we're delighted you'd still be happy to return! We do love Room 10 too. We have 2 duplex rooms which have a small lounge, bathroom and bedroom... More
