We live 60 miles from Ambleside, so we tend not to stay when we visit The Lake District. Fortunatley our friends bought us a voucher for this place & now our routine will have to change. The location is the first plus point, in the centre of Ambleside but with its own grounds with ample parking.. A very warm welcome from the staff, a fantastic location, and a swimming pool...what more could you ask for? The breakfast was more than adequate, and nice to have a friendly waitress. Other B&B's should take note; a smile and good morning makes you feel valued. Will come again.

I found the other reviews are accurate and the Old Vicarage indeed deserves its star rating. My wife and I had a spur of the moment one night stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. The owners and staff are very friendly without interfering in any way. Would stay here again.

The Old Vicarage is a cracking B&B right in the centre of Ambleside. Our excellent room had a whirlpool bath, large walk in shower, and a super king-size bed - everything was spotlessly clean.
