We stayed at the hotel with relatives that had recommended the hotel as they had been going to this venue for the past 30 years. We understand that the property has changed hands to the detriment of the quality of services including the poor quality of the food. The hotel is in a buitifull location with access to many parts... I read with great disappointment your trip advisor review. I find it hard to believe that you experienced the problems mentioned during your stay with us. Having spoken to the management team about this review not one can recall their being any issues mentioned or reported at any time with regard to food quality, service or anything for that matter.... We stayed here for a couple of nights on our way to our holiday in Scotland. This is a beautiful and quiet location in a wonderful part of the Lake District, with first class access to so many of the lovely places you want to go while here. We had a very small room, but there was room for all... More

Returned with the family after an excellent meal earlier in the week. Superb traditional Sunday roast. Lakeland beef very tender washed down with a delicious pint of sunbeam ale. We will be back when we visit the area again!

Great location and most staff extremely friendly. Our room was Derwent - not good if you have reduced mobility as two sets of stairs to climb and the outside stair rail is not set at correct height to give max assistance to the majority. Our mattress was rather hard but a lovely view from bathroom window. All the room towel... More

Back in Langdale for the first of our two annual visits to the Lake District and the Skelwith Bridge Hotel again does not disappoint. The same staff, the same welcome, the same (huge) breakfasts and a good choice of menu for dinner: always at least two meat, one fish and one vegetarian main course. The sauces this year were a... The reviews of this place seem at odds with what I planned to write so I'll just say this was our second stay here and we had looked forward to returning to celebrate my birthday. As I have written directly to the hotel - it is difficult to put your finger on what has changed since we last stayed apart... More

We are about to stay a week for the second year running. We ate at the Talbot Bar and enjoyed Sunday Lunch in the Hotel over many, many years, when we had a static up on Skelwith Fold Caravan Park. The most recent Sunday Lunch was incredible value - three courses and spending the afternoon drinking coffee in the lounge... More

I was in need of some slow down time,we haven't been to the Skelwith for five years,so it was a wonderful suprise when my husband told me we were going back, just the two of us for a quiet weekend. We've stayed at the Skelwith numerous times over the years and always found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very homely and the rooms are very comfortable and clean, the deluxe are rooms are spacious, This is a very Dog Friendly Hotel and the location is perfect for a Lakes stay
