My husband and I had a fantastic 2 night break in October at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel. We stayed in a deluxe double bedded room which had plenty of space and was spotlessly clean . Dogs were welcomed in some rooms and we weren't given a tatty room as in some hotels we have stayed with our dog. The food... more

I stayed with a friend in twin room (superior) 10 on a Satuday night. Unfortunately other commitments meant we could only manage the one night. We really enjoyed our 2 days in the lakes. The hotel was a key part of the experience. The location is about 2 miles west of Ambleside surrounded by ideal walking country. The restaurant and... more

We have just returned from a 3 day stay at Skelwith and I have got to say it was first class. The food was fantastic, freshly cooked and beautifially presented, the menu's changed daily. The hotel and rooms were spotless. Plenty of clean towels and hot water! The restaurant staff provided a friendly efficient excellent service. Got to say in... more

We stayed in deluxe room 23 at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel for three nights in late May 2008. The hotel was easy to find and parking was plentiful. The welcome was a little indifferent (I think the receptionist had a cold or possibly hay fever) but this was the only part of our visit which was in any way substandard.... more

It would appear that regular visitors become the in -crowd while unknown guests are ignored. Not once during our 3 night stay did the management make any attempt to be friendly or even acknowledge our presence-maybe because we didn't have a dog in tow! Starters and main courses were excellent but puddings not of the same standard. Rooms need updating.... more

Stayed at this hotel over New Year. Food excellent - wine excellent but perhaps a bit pricey. New Year was a special package and the staff and management were excellent in the way they looked after all the guests. The area around the hotel is well known to me and we had a brilliant walk on New Years Eve which... more

Myself, partner and little dog stayed at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel for 4 nights DB&B just before Easter. We were very lucky with the weather, sunny every day. The hotel is fantastic, food plentiful, good variety and always hot. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and polite. The little dog was welcomed by the hotel and he thoroughly... more

Booked a long weekend at the Skelwith Bridge as a family celebration in Feb 2008. Meant we had to accommodate a wide range of tastes for all ages. Hotel is well located for walking, public rooms and bedrooms are a little 'homely' but bar and dining room and some of the bedrooms recently renovated. Food really excellent in terms of... more

Our first stay at Skelwith Bridge and definately not our last. We booked deluxe room and was given a four poster, large and nicely decorated - spa bath was nice after a long walk. Location was good, out of town but in an area we wanted to walk. Food was excellent - the breakfast perfectly cooked to order, and plenty... more
