We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of menu for breakfast. A choice between a restaurant or bar food for evening meal, nice open fires which were particularly welcome in January. The hotel is situated close to our favourite Langdale walks so no need to drive anywhere.

Very dog friendly hotel with welcoming real open fire in the reception area. Good location for easy access to both Ambleside and Coniston with great walks by the River Brathay....unfortunate torrential downpour caused us to stay a further night due to flooding. We met several friendly people from all walks of life and the breakfast and meals were very good... More

Decided to have a night away in between Xmas and New Year. Family had recommended this hotel and we weren't disappointed. We had the dog and had a great room (Grasmere). Bathroom was huge and beds comfy. Food great, staff exceptionally friendly, u felt as though they couldn't do enough to please. Will definitely be stopping in the future.

Lovely and convenient location overlooking the river and bridge. The best feature of this hotel is the quality of the service. The staff without exception were courteous, helpful, energetic and certainly gave the impression of enjoying what they were doing with great humour. The welcome was enhanced by an open fire in the foyer. The bedroom was small but adequate... More

This was our third new year at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel and once again it delivered on every level. We have been visiting The Lake District for new year for the past 12 years at various locations and hotels but once we discovered this hotel we would never go anywhere else. The food, service, staff, rooms are all excellent. It... More

Friends had suggested the Hotel as a good base for the Lakes and being "dog friendly" we decided to give it a go. Staff are friendly if a little overworked. (this seems to be a theme of this Hotel group since "Cave Castle", its sister Hotel has the same overworked staff issue.) The room was more than ok, if a... More

I went with my boyfriend a few weeks ago as it is just down the road from where we stayed during the flooding and it made the weekend. He had the gammon and i had a turkey dinner and there was so much food i couldn't manage all of it and my boyfriend had to finish it. It was also... More

A cosy hotel with welcoming open fires and friendly staff. We had an excellent value pre Christmas Festive deal for three nights including dinner. Good food and large room (no. 15). It is worth noting it is a dog friendly hotel, so be prepared for a continuous parade of pooches going outside and back, on leads! Well located for walks... More

We recently stayed at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel for a brief trip to the lakes. For reference, we're a young(ish?!) married couple in our 30s. Here are the main points:- The Room: The spacious room included a comfortable clean bed, 2 bedside tables, a small sofa and coffee table, dressing table & mirror, a large wardrobe, TV, and tea &... We found ourselves stranded by floods last Sunday and so bagged the last two rooms at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel. We quickly appreciated the move as we enjoyed our enforced stay immensely. Rooms were very nicely appointed, modern, clean and with enough thoughtful touches to warrant the cost. Meals were nicely cooked and presented by very pleasant staff, and there... More
