We've just returned from our umpteenth visit to the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and once again, we have had a lovely time. We first visited 20 years ago and during the intervening years we have visited whenever we can. We love it for so many reasons. The location is fabulous, nestling at the foot of the Langdale Pikes, set-back from... More

Recently stayed here celebrating a family birthday in a Marquee next to the Sticklebarn. The location is fantastic and there are plenty of options for getting out and exploring. Make sure you check out Stickle Tarn behind which is well worth the hike up next to the waterfall. The B&B itself was a pleasant 3 star type accommodation, breakfast was... More

I only stayed for one night, but would happily have spent much longer in this beautiful place. The location is what makes the New Dungeon Ghyll- the views are amazing and the peace and tranquility is worth whatever the price! The staff are all excellent- very friendly and welcoming. The food is good and reasonably priced and the bar is... More

Passing by we stopped off for some food, the menu looked great! However when ordering our food we were told we needed to pay £5 to park even though we were only visiting for food, when we questioned this the rather rude bar staff shrugged and stated "I don't make the rules, this is the lakes". We moved the car... More

Only stayed one night as a stop over on the Cumbria way walk. Could not have asked for a better place to stop. Lovely location and good sized clean rooms with everything we required. Excellent restaurant with good food and friendly service. Nice bar and with the Stickle Barn only 50 yards away if you need an option for food... More

We visited New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel on 15/08/15 at their Bar & Restaurant for lunch after walking around. This is my 3rd time in NGH, they have great location and good foods, one reviewer here mentioned that the foods here is unimaginable but I do like simple and tasty foods! My son had the Sausages and Mash, my husband had... More

We visit The Lakes at least twice a year and we have had our favourites in terms of pub accommodation, but the NDG might just beat the lot. It is dog friendly but there are only two dog rooms which was just great for our normally beautifully gentle but dog-unfriendly lurcher. Moreover, there is a separate resident's bar, in which... We stay a couple of times a year and always love it. This time we brought my mum and her friend along. My mum"s 82nd birthday was on Saturday and we had a lovely evening with birthday cake and prosecco. Normally we eat in the bar but the half board food was so good we will definitely do that again... Our second stay at the NDG on 3 years. On both occasions we booked D,B&B for Friday and Saturday nights with some hillwalking by day. Room - comfortable, very clean and modern. Food - different menus on each evening. All courses very good in terms of choice and "volume" on offer if you need to replace carbs used over the... More

this is the third time I have visited this hotel, each time the staff are very helpful and cheerful. The restaurant serves good food and the rooms are clean. I visited with my 12 year old son to do a couple of walks. From a walkers point of view you can walk out the hotel and within 30 yards you... More
