Such a warm and welcoming place to stay. As soon as we arrived Richard greeted us by our 1st names, showing us our amazing room complete with heart shaped, home made shortbread and wedding card! Breakfast was fantastic, locally sourced produce with homemade bread and cake. The best breakfast I've ever had with printouts informing us of the weather and... More

This is a beautiful home which we had the pleasure of staying in for 2 nights. Very comfortable with welcoming hosts offering excellent accommodation. The breakfasts are fantastic - try the muesli fruit bowl and homemade bread selection, Diney is a trained chef and it certainly shows. Richard has thought of everything to make you feel welcome and at home.... More

The is definitely the best B*B we have ever stayed in. The couple running the guesthouse is very hands on and extremely hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms is spotlessly cleaned with lovely local products to use in the bathroom. The breakfast is the best I've ever had, even to five star hotel standards. It is a convenient... More

One of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed at. Innkeepers pampered us and gave excellent dining and hiking tips. Phenomenal breakfast; given baked goods for our daily outings (which came in handy). Ten-minute scenic walk to center of Ambleside. Beautiful, luxurious room with deep bathtub; wish we could've stayed longer than our three days. We shall return.

Idyllic experience and location. Just returned from a wonderful stay at Riverside. The hosts, Richard and Diney could not be more welcoming or accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble -from advice on walks/drives around the Lakes to looking after our sausages that we had purchased locally! Breakfasts were sublime; encompassing local produce and 'starter specials' which was a unique touch... More

This is our second visit to Riverside and hopefully there will be many more. Rooms are well appointed, spotless and comfortable. Lots of nice touches and attention to detail: plentiful lovely Lakes toiletries, quilted loo roll, replenished water and tea/coffee bits. The breakfasts are AMAZING. And Diney's cakes (to take up the fells) and breads are delicious. The location is... More

We spent 2 nights at Riverside, meeting up with friends who had arranged accommodation in the centre of Ambleside. We received a warm welcome from Richard & Diney and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found Riverside to be the perfect location for a relaxing break. Did not realise until arrival how easy it is to walk into Ambleside via Rothay... More

This was the first time we have stayed in a B&B and we were not disappointed. The accommodation was very comfortable, very clean and very well equipped. The family room we had (Room 3 sleeps 3) was big, light, airy and had it's own very spacious bathroom. The breakfast was superb and all freshly prepared that morning. There was a... More

We were greeted warmly by Richard who introduced us to our accommodation and offered us good advice on eating out and local walks. Our room (6) was a good size, very clean with double aspect views over the river and garden and the double bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect for tranquillity yet being only a ten minute... More
