We always return to Riverside - we are sure it is the best B&B in the World. The consistently high standards requires real integrity, authenticity and a concern for detail which Brenda and Dave have in abundance. The friendly and comfortable atmosphere, lovely bedrooms and the excellent position on the edge of Ambleside have made it our haven for special... More

Another fabulous time was had on our return visit to riverside. Fab hosts Dave and Brenda. And can't forget to mention the fabulous breakfasts and home made bread. Can't wait to return next year for our annual visit to Riverside and the surrounding areas.

..they should ask Brenda and Dave 1st of all how to do it. Usual warm welcome, amazingly comfortable super king size bed (room 1), the best breakfasts ever, free wifi, mineral water and quality biscuits. Torches and umbrellas if needed. Riverside setting, 10 minutes walk into Centre. Everything is so consistently good. Thanks again for another lovely stay. We'll be... More

We have just returned from a three night stay at the Riverside hotel, it is a real gem of the Lake District. Brenda and Dave are very welcoming and shared their knowledge of the area which was very useful. Room was spacious and spotless and very comfortable and they had thought of everything. Breakfast was amazing and Brenda's home made... More

We have just returned after spending 3 nights at The Riverside Hotel. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. Brenda & Dave greeted us warmly & gave us a brief description of the house & immediate area. Dave's detailed knowledge of the area enabled us to make the most of our time there. All his... More

A beautiful gem, we had two wonderful nights here. Brenda & David are perfect hosts, sharing their knowledge of the area. Room was spacious and comfortable, they have thought of everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was amazing, we skipped lunch. All local produce that was just cooked to perfection. Could not recommend highly enough.

Loved this little hotel, and David and Barbara really are the perfect hosts who look after their guests with 5 star service, and I have to say that breakfast was the best I have had in a hotel in the U.K, perfectly cooked and really tasty. We stayed at the end of July for 3 days in the 4 poster... More

Stayed in August 2014, was made to feel very welcome. This is in a lovely location near to Ambleside centre (just a short walk through the park) and Brenda and Dave do everything you would expect and that bit more to make your stay enjoyable. Brenda your homemade bread was lovely. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

Stayed 2 nights at early August 2014 at Riverside. I was initially surprised that the B&B does not have a unit number, it just said “Under Loughrigg” which was a really long, winding road but if one were to drive further in, one should not miss it. Overall, it was an extremely memorable stay. Two thumbs up! It was rainy... More
