Friendly and welcoming proprietors, superb breakfast including regularly changing selection of locally made bread and jam. Stayed in an excellent room (4 poster bed, plenty of space, overlooking river) - high standard of cleanliness and decor throughout the property. Would definitely recommend.

Our fourth annual visit to Ambleside and this B&B. Once again we had a very enjoyable time in this lovely house. The room was as clean, fresh and comfortable as I remembered and it is a joy to listen to the stream outside as you drift off to sleep. David and Brenda are friendly hosts and breakfast is a real... We spent 4 fantastic nights in this B&B. lovely private rooms, exceptional service and delicious varied breakfast. Dave went out of his way to make our stay unforgettable, advising amazing walks, and good restaurant recommendations. If you come to the Lakes, come here!

Stayed for 4 nights at The Riverside from 19 May2013. Hosts Dave & Brenda were lovely and gave lots of advice on the area, walks etc. The breakfast was superb. Our room overlooked the River Rothay and we occasionally caught sight of "Clint" the heron, stalking for fish. From the Riverside it is only a short stroll into Ambleside so... More

We stayed for 3 nights in early May using Riverside as a base to explore the Lakes District. The house is in a great location, out of Ambleside but only 15 mins walk or so along the river and through the park into Ambleside's centre. It's not straightforward to find but my satnav got us there after mistakenly going round... More

After reading the reviews of Riverside Hotel we were expecting something special and we were not disappointed. Easy to locate and in a peaceful spot overlooking the river, we parked in the guests' car park and went inside to a warm welcome from Dave, who, as others have said, spent time giving us informationn on the area, including walks, eateries... Our 5th stay at this very comfortable house. Brenda and David give you such a great welcome every time and even bad weather is overcome! We would unreservedly recommend this hotel. Their breakfasts are the very best , fresh baked breads, fruits as well as delicious cooked meals. Just on the edge of Ambleside, with ample parking alongside for guests,(a... More

This was our second stay at Riverside, and we certainly intend to stay there again on our next visit. Brenda and Dave run their B&B in a very friendly and professional way, and as stated by other reviewers, nothing is too much trouble. The bedroom and bathroom were of a good size and very clean and comfortable. There is plenty... More

We really look forward to our regular holiday breaks at `Riverside`. The Host and hostess are always the same, genuine, friendly, caring geordies! They recommended a delightful four mile walk around Grasmere from one of their many books available to guests. Afternoon tea at the `Swan` was not part of the itinerary, just a great added extra. Great location Great breakfast.
