I've stayed at the Nanny Brow several times now (most recently Dec 2002), and it always exceeds my expectations. It's advertised as a country house hotel, and indeed feels like you're staying with friends. The rooms are well decorated in the style of the house, and whilst all the furnishings aren't new, the rooms are tasteful, comfortable and clean.The food is always excellent, from the whisky laced porridge at Breakfast to the wonderful locally produced lamb in an evening. There is also an extensive wine cellar - and the owner is happy to talk through your preference and recommend his favourites.This is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay - the views from the rooms are stunning, and the local area superb. It will always be our first choice in the Lake District. more
