We stayed here 12 years ago on our honeymoon,when the hotel was still very traditional - and very comfortable. We have stayed a couple of times since then, but this was the first time since the upgrade/refurb. It's lovely, and very comfortable, and the food's great. We stayed here as a last minute booking for one night and were really impressed by the contemporary style, especially the bedrooms. The beds were really comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. The hotel is a short walk from Ambleside and in a good location, with Lake Windemere opposite and a good pub right across the road. more

We arrived early Sunday morning for a 2 night stay over the bank holiday, although our room wasn't ready we were able to leave the car in the car park.
