called here on Sunday lunch time for lunch before heading home from a weekend in Ambleside. The food, staff and ambience were first class! The manager showed us around some of the guest rooms ( for future stays) and I can only say they were of a very high standard! The food was amazing and I can see why they... More

I had lunch at The Drunken Duck - a 400-year-old inn & one of the Lake District's best gastropubs. The food was excellent & service was attentive without being intrusive. The interior is homely, all in all an excellent location to unwind being perched high above Lake Windermere with dramatic views. This pub is hard to leave & offers rooms... More

We didn't stay here but we did eat...and very good it was too! It's about 4 miles from Ambleside or hawks head in the countryside so lovely location with views to the hills from the outside terrace. The food-good portions, good quality and the service was great. I do think it's a little over priced for the main meals (£14-18)... More

A great foodie find!! Nestled between Ambleside and Hawkshead, this lovely homely pub was a fab one night retreat. A really lovely welcome and personal tour explained about the well appointed room & where we could enjoy the tasty complementary cream tea available to us. On the evening the team had reserved a table in the restaurant for what can... More

We stayed for three nights (Room 1 - in the Lodge Annex) mid-week. We were greeted with complimentary cream tea and ducks wandering up to our room to say hello. Lovely room - excellent walk in shower and roll top bath - spotlessly clean and well decorated with quality furnishings - someone knows what they're doing with decor. We dined... More

Stayed for two nights for a fine dining / walking weekend. All staff were very friendly, food was excellent, fine choice of wines and superb selection of beers. Stayed in a twin room, which was well appointed and had a fantastic view. No coffee making equipment in the room, but could not fault the fresh coffee that arrived in the... More

Booked in for one nights stay at The Duck after it was recommended to my by an old work colleague. Fantastic secluded setting some 10 minutes drive out of Ambleside . We stayed in one of the basic rooms (No 8 ) which overlooked the courtyard, It was nice and clean and tidy but a little on the small side.... More

We went for a meal on a Sunday night we were put in a corner within a arms length of a table of six. There was a carafe of wine on our table for some reason. We asked for water of the man I presume was the manager which never came. The young lass with glasses was far more attentive.... More

Having been brought fizzy pop and crisps in the car which was parked outside when I was child in the mid 1960s, I was delighted to rediscover it on a trip to the Lakes several years ago and have always visited when in the area ever since. So, I was really pleasedto be taken there for my 60th and this time... I have been going to the lakes since I was about 3 years old and only discovered this place on a recommend from a new work colleague! Why did I not know about it before! Called to book 2 weeks prior and whilst Saturday evening was booked up they had a reshuffle and accommodated us on the Sunday. Food and... More
