Snow falling, roads and sadly my car not coping. One call to the hotel and out came Steve with a 4x4 to pull me up the bank to the 'oasis' called 'The Drunken Duck'.Could anyone have bettered such a romantic start to a weekend. Our party were 'snowed in' but no complainers as we could not have been made to... More

We stay at the Duck at least once per year so yes, I admit I am biased! However, we keep going back as they never fail to deliver excellent service, food, ambiance and value for money. I could go on and on but I promise to keep this brief. What are you looking for when you stay at a Lakes... More

Stayed at the Duck last night, and it was superb. Last time we went it was our honeymoon and we stayed in the Garden Room, which was lovely. This time was a winter Sunday package. Lunch, afternoon tea (couldn't fit it in!), three course a la carte dinner, tea/coffee and paper brought to room, full breakfast AND a packed lunch to... More

This is a wonderfully warm and cosy Inn ina most beautiful part of the Lake District. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable and service is warm and friendly. The restaurant serves excellent food in either the main restaurant itself, or in the cosy and intimate bar. The associated micro-brewery results in a great range of beers. Lots of things to do... Last minute treat to blow away those January blues. We had stayed twice before first in a standard room, then superior and now deluxe. The room was perfect with countryside views. Everything was immaculate. The afternnon tea served in the room was delicious. The staff were more than helpful and avoid any inverted snootiness which characterises many top end hotels.... More

This is one of my favourite hotels in the Uk. Myself and my wife treat ourselves here at least once a year. The hotel is cosy and friendly. The bar is relaxed with great home made brews. The best however is the Restaurant and we always have a great meal here! More

We've eaten here a couple of times now and have been very impressed by the standard of food. Eating at the Drunken Duck is a highlight of our trips to the Lake District. The service tends to be slow given that the place isn't that big, 10 mins for a drink order, another 15 for food order, 30 mins between having... More

A trip to the Lakes is never complete without a visit to The Drunken Duck! We spent a lovely evening here just a few days before Christmas, and as usual the food was first class. I had scallops and then the steak, which just melted in the mouth, one of our party said he had waited all his life to... More
