Our room was in the main building and the decor and furnishings reflected a typical countryside Inn, cosy, comfortable and very clean. The views from our bedroom window were fantastic, despite the weather! We had dinner in the restaurant both evenings and the food was very good, however, we found the choice a bit restrictive, we had venison the first... More

Fantastic food, service & location. We stayed for two nights & dined at the Drunken Duck both nights. Recommend but do think it is overpriced for what is really a B&B. We would stay here again but would look for mid week reduced price if possible.

We stayed at the Duck for two nights for my birthday. The Duck is a true Icon & Institution of the Lake District. Comfortable Accommodation, Friendly Staff, Good Food to whet the appetite and their own Brewery providing a wide range of fantastic beer to slake the thirst in the Cosy Bar whilst the rain fell outside!! It was only... More

If you enjoy the finer things in life, then this atmospheric place is one to add to your weekend list. The food was excellent, the wine list extensive, a busy bar full of local beers and a warm log fire, but still space on the shelf for the Hendricks and Fever Tree tonic with a twist of cucumber. Our room... More

Had a fabulous meal here whilst staying in the Hawkeshead area for the week. Glad we booked in advance as it was very popular. Lovely food choices and great wine list & fever tree tonic to go with the gin ! Just short of £100 for starters , mains, 1 dessert and drinks but well worth it. Friendly staff and... More

Stayed just one night but really enjoyed it. The room was a standard room (6) in the main building not very big but fine for one night, beautifully decorated and I love the homemade gingerbread. There was a little noise from the kitchen output pipe but it did t bother us. The residence lounge was so cosy and a wonderful... More

I shared a twin courtyard room with a friend for a am two night stay in late Nov. It was lovely - the room was small but cosy and the view from our room was lovely. The breakfast and evening meals were amazing - as was the afternoon tea included in the b&b price. We made use the Langdale spa... More

Wonderful couple of nights in this lovely escape. Whole place felt warm and welcoming, lovely touches such as afternoon tea by the fire, a real treat! Breakfast and dinner also excellent. The guest sitting room is also an extremely relaxing place to while away a few hours. We enjoyed the house cat Dottie too. Hope to be back!

to have a cosy Christmas Eve dinner. The duck seemed the perfect place for this! The bar and dinning room area were really cosy with a great atmosphere, there was a wood burning stove and lovely Christmas decorations which set the scene perfectly. The food was outstanding, from the amuse-bouche to mains. We hadn't been for dinner for a long... More
