This place is excellent. The cows outside seemed very happy, as did the tourists and bicyclists, amblers and walkers, all milling about enjoying a well-earned pint and a hearty meal. We had a great lunch, perfectly cooked, served piping hot, with a lovely local brew. It's a great spot and well worth hunting out. Probably the best food in the... More

We stayed for two nights in August arriving on Sunday. Sunday lunch was amazing, service was great and our room was lovely. Afternoon tea is complimentary and tasty, the bar is welcoming and staff are friendly. We had another delicious meal in the restaurant on the Monday evening. My only criticism is the lack of bar food in the evenings,... More

We had eaten at the Drunken Duck before but stayed a night as well this time, it did not disappointed - from the complimentary cream tea to the beautiful room and truly excellent food we had a fantastic stay. The DD is a gem in the heart of the Lake District and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Two nights here - a Saturday and a Sunday. Decor is cosy, warm, and a lot of fun. Room and restaurant nicely appointed but a little bit cramped - however that's a limitation of the original building rather than any kind of design failing, and in any case forms part of the charm you're paying for. Food excellent and wine... More

Myself, husband, elderly mum and 2 young children arrived at the Drunken Duck in the pouring rain at 11.45 on Sunday for lunch. We didn't realise the restaurant didn't open until 12, and therefore I asked at reception if we could take shelter in the hotel bar area (which was completely empty) for 15 minutes until the restaurant opened and... We have been to the DD over the years on many occasions. It has a lovely setting and nice ambiance. I just find the lunch selection lacking choice, variety and flavour. The doorstep sandwiches look good, but need better content / flavour. I feel the place is getting complacent. My husband insists I mention the bland beers, despite each time... More

Everything about the Drunken Duck was excellent .. Friendly and knowledgable staff .. Excellent breakfast and afternoons tea and scones.. And the little touches like tea/coffee and newspaper delivered to your room before breakfast ... Beds really comfy ... Lovely atmosphere in the bar where there was an excellent choice of locally brewed beer... Would highly recommend staying at the... More

For a little inn in the middle of nowhere the drunken duck is pretty awesome. The menu didn't have too many options and I wasn't sure what half the ingredients were. I ordered the duck and it was exquisite the blend of different ingredients just worked perfectly. So tasty I just wanted to lick the plate. This is real fine... More

Served sour dough bread sandwiches without being asked. It was more like stale white bread. The cheese sandwich was mouldy so was returned. One of our party ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich expecting to get slices of both, what arrived looked like the sandwich filler mush you get from the supermarket!. Over all 10 of us were eating but... More
