A return to The Drunken Duck didn't disappoint. For a start there were still real ducks to wake you up. Plus there is decent beer brewed on the premises. All of the staff are friendly and efficient. The breakfast is enough to get you up a Cumbrian Fell or two. Dinner's not bad either.

Had been recommended The Duck by a friend. Hospitality and service are fab. The rooms are worth spending that bit more on rather than staying close to the Lake. Used the restaurant and again didn't disappoint. Make sure you try the local brew and buy a t shirt from reception at the end of your stay.

We were looking forward to a gastronomic experience at the Duck. The first course of lobster and avocado was enjoyable. We all had stone bass and shrimps. The fish and shrimps were beautifully cooked but sadly the vegetables were undercooked and under prepared. Undercooked stalk is never a good addition to any meal - no matter how many times someone... This was our first time visiting the Lakes so I had to rely on online reviews to help us choose a good place to celebrate our anniversary. The Drunken Duck was perfect - delicious food and fab service. I thought the prices were very reasonable considering how delicious the meal was.

This is one of those places that we wish we could have stayed longer. It has such charm and personality, mixed with spectacular views. The food and beer was delicious, and everybody working there was kind and attentive.

This pub is about ten minutes drive from Ambleside (Lake District) up in the fells. Two parking areas, which were nearly full and a good sign. We were able to squeeze in. The pub is hundred of years old, but well maintained. Old beams with little nooks and crannys. I tried a local brew called Catnap, one of those ales... More

We have been here a couple of times, its a great setting exactly what you want from a country style gastro pub, nice cosy bar and tables excellent service. The food however while tasty uses a lot of cheaper cuts (sweetbreads, lamb suet pudding) to name a few and i only got one scallop with my starter. Bill for two... More

We spent two great nights here courtesy of our family to celebrate 40 years together. The room was good, the bed was comfortable, the food was outstanding. We loved being able to sit and read in the garden at the back when the sun shone. This is a charming place to spend time, and of course the Lake District beckons... More
