Stayed for two nights for our anniversary and had a brilliant time. We had a room across the courtyard with lovely views over the fields and very relaxing. The afternoon tea on arrival was lovely as was coffee brought up to our rooms each morning. Staff were welcoming and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again.

We have just come back from a night spent here as part of a walking weekend in the Lakes. I can honestly say this is one of the prettiest and most peaceful little places we've stayed -we arrived very hot and dusty and were warmly welcomed. Afternoon tea with scones and cream did a lot to restore our energy, and... More

The hunt for the restaurant was worth every twist and turn of the road. Lunch is a walk in affair though dinner was booked till the following week! We were very welcomed for lunch even at the late hour of 3pm. A fantastic option judging from the crowd. Sandwiches, moules frites and a wonderful selection of beverages. Steak sandwich was... More

Stayed here in late June 2014 for a short break. Room across the courtyard was small, but with a large bathroom, and patio doors onto a small sitting out area with fabulous views onto the hills and fields. The inclusive afternoon tea of fresh scones was served in the garden near the tarn, or on our patio, and almost spoilt... More

The "Duck" is a very special place to us: this was a return visit and it continues to be fantastic! Fabulous accomodation, wonderful staff, calm, quiet and everything you could ask for and more in the beautiful Lake District. There is nothing to fault. We will be back!

Quality all round here from the food and drink to the setting of this well maintained country Inn. Rooms expensive for what they are stop an 'Excellent' rating. Breakfast absolutely first class but dinner options a little limited to only five or six options. They rotate, but if you catch it on the wrong night for options, too bad!!

Upon a recommendation I decided to treat my wife to a meal and a romantic overnight stay for her 30th birthday. After reading the room descriptions I opted for a superior room as they had roll top baths, something my wife always wanted to experience. Upon arrival the beauty of The Drunken Duck's setting took our breath away. There are... More

We spent two nights in a superior room (not in the main building). Room on the garden floor, with a door opening straight into a quite nice garden. Great service, welcome, attention from all staff. Afternoon tea near the pond in the middle of ducks. Tea & coffee brought to your room in the morning (before breakfast, if you wish,... More

This is our 3rd or 4th visit here - beautiful location - great service - lovely food - relaxed atmosphere - what's not to like? You can't book at lunchtimes but it was a Monday outside of school holiday time so not too busy.
