Absolute gem of a pub. The food here is absolutely fantastic being served from an open kitchen by very skilled chefs. The beer choices are impeccable having a large selection of local ales along with some old favourites. The general feel of the place is of attention to detail and class in a classic setting.

Visited here last night for a meal. The location is beautiful with great views of the surrounds countryside. Several tables outside where people could have a drink whilst waiting for the table. The service was excellent. A good team of competent young staff in there. Polite, knowledgable and friendly. The food is just superb. The lamb was outstanding. Book online... More

We went on recommendation from a friend and we were certainly not disappointed. Excellent food and nice selection of local ales too. We were aware that our daughter and husband to be were expecting to spend a few days in the Lake District nearby after their wedding and arranged for them to have meal there too. Book in advance -... Great dinner with friends. The appetizers were all very good and the meals were very good portions. I tried several beers ( i wasn't driving), which were all fantastic. We only had dinner so i can not comment on the rooms. I would definitely recommend the Drunken Duck Inn for dinner.

Seven of us for lunch today (inc. two small kids) and it didn't disappoint. Lots of room inside (many lunchers were outside taking in the wonderful views but we'd already had plenty of sunshine!) and very comfortable was the seating arrangements. The food, as ever, was excellent,- salads, mezze and a couple of fantastic beef pies. Barngates beer was also... More

Room was nice and food was tasty, however when I pay over £700 for 2 nights DB+B for 2 people, I expect a bit more. We were made to feel that our simple requests were somehow OUR fault. "Can we change our meal-times to 30 minutes later?" No. "Can we have hot water for our bath?" It is broken. "Can... More

A very nice old inn ideally located to go around the lake district. Nice small room given all the due attention expected for this price range. Note it is an old building and you will hear what happens above you if other guests are not very careful - could also be a nuisance if other guests are not respectful. Restaurant... More

If you are looking for a Lakeland gastro pub with accommodation this is it. Very friendly staff. Rooms small but functional and inexpensive. Food is the highlight served from a open kitchen...small menu but all very very good It exceeded our expectations. Bar area is small but the in house micro brewery makes up for this!

Fab pub - stayed last night and it really was excellent, the food was to die for, the staff were polite and very friendly, the bed was comfy and the shortbreads left in our room were a lovely added bonus! A great pub with lovely views, will definitely be staying again!
