We have just returned from a lovely stay in Ambleside. This compact town is a great place to stay, and very conveniently placed for visiting the Lakes. From this B&B you can just stroll down into the town, only a few minutes away. There are lots of lovely places to eat. Two of the Italian restaurants have their own cinemas,... More

When we were refurbing the B&B last year, we tried to think of everything and when it came to coat hangers, we were on exactly the same page as you! It's funny that it's such a small thing, but of course it's the small things that make the difference and they're often the thing that people remember. Your review is... More

We recently had a reunion at this b & b and found the rooms spotless and well furnished. The owners were friendly, flexible and accommodating. The hotel is well situated in a quiet corner of the village and as they are pet friendly I'll be back with the family and dog. Thanks for a great break.

No, thank YOU for choosing Brantholme. It was great to have you to stay and we're chuffed you'll be visiting us again. We're pleased you liked our location - quiet, but close to the village centre and also that you liked the room. Although they vary a little in size, they're all furnished (and cleaned) to the same standards. We're... More

We have just returned from a two night stay here. Really impressed with everything. The place is spotless, comfortable and close to the centre. Good off road parking too. Breakfasts are perfect. The,staff so friendly and helpful. I can't say any more. It really is faultless.

"Faultless" - that is the accolade that we're looking for, so thanks for that! When planning our top-to-toe refurb, this is what we were after. That's why we chose that location, put the private parking in and keep the place as comfortable and clean as we can. Thanks for taking the time to write your review and for reassuring us... More

We stayed in Brantholme last Monday & Tuesday and has the most amazing time ever with our 2 pooches. Weather was FAB and Brantholme was lovely. Best B & B in Ambleside (believe me as we've stayed in a few along with other hotels). We stayed in room 4 which was a suite. Views were amazing from our rooms and... More

We arranged the outstanding weather just for you and your lovely dogs! It's sooooo much nicer when the sun is shining - the walks can be longer and the pooches love you even more ... We're over the moon we've won your 'Best B&B in Ambleside' award. Room 4 is a wonderful suite - having the extra lounge makes it... More

(With apologies for the alliteration!) Easily the best accommodation we stayed in during our three weeks in the UK and that's no small compliment since almost everywhere we stayed was excellent! The rooms are well designed with comfortable beds and adequate sitting space (even with the four beds for our family). The bathroom, though b&b style small, had both a... More

Ha! We love a bit of alliteration! It was a delight to have you all to stay and we're really pleased you enjoyed yourselves. It is particularly reassuring that we won your 'best accommodation' category and we also hope the Lake District got the 'favourite destination' award! We've worked hard to get that private parking for all our guests (at... More

Brantholme is fab as are Garfield and his sister Leanne who create a fabulous atmosphere. All the comforts of a small hotel whilst retaining the friendly family feel of a great B&B. The whole experience is warm and friendly. They're really flexible and genuinely nice. Nothing is too much trouble. The location is fab too - it borders greenery and... More

Thank you Alison and Steve for your review. It's lovely to hear such lovely comments about my son and daughter - we've spent years rearing them to provide that kind of service and while there have been bumps along the way I secretly think they do a great job - just don't tell them I said so! We are a... More

Stayed for 3 nights. On arrival met by very friendly informative family member who showed us to our room helping to carry our luggage in the process. The bedroom was immaculate, tea and coffee in abundance, just the ticket after travelling. Bathroom was roomy and had both a bath and shower, again immaculate.Great wifi facilities and large screen TV. The... More

What a beautiful setting for a lovely guesthouse, and how much we were entertained by Ian and Helen!! We had room 1, which is on the ground floor and has a French window on to the patio. It is a large, delightful bedroom, with views of the surrounding countryside, a well appointed modern bathroom, with bath and large walk in... More

We love Room 1 too. A ground floor room is a rare thing in the Lake District, but one with a view is bordering on unusual! We really are delighted you enjoyed your visit and maybe you'll be able to stay longer next time you're in the area? We'll still be here ... working hard, but enjoying the views when... More

The lakes district is by its very nature expensive. That said I found Brantholme to be exceptional value for money and a great place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. Booked for a couple of nights at the end of May for a much needed break. A dog friendly guesthouse in an ideal quiet location but right in the heart of Ambleside. We do consider ourselves very lucky to be only 2 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside (restaurants, cafes, atttractions, shops, etc), but still on the edge of the village with those uninterrupted views you mention. Thanks for taking the time to write your review ... what kind of a Bed and Breakfast would we be if we didn't provide... More
