(With apologies for the alliteration!) Easily the best accommodation we stayed in during our three weeks in the UK and that's no small compliment since almost everywhere we stayed was excellent! The rooms are well designed with comfortable beds and adequate sitting space (even with the four beds for our family). The bathroom, though b&b style small, had both a... More

Brantholme is fab as are Garfield and his sister Leanne who create a fabulous atmosphere. All the comforts of a small hotel whilst retaining the friendly family feel of a great B&B. The whole experience is warm and friendly. They're really flexible and genuinely nice. Nothing is too much trouble. The location is fab too - it borders greenery and... More

Stayed for 3 nights. On arrival met by very friendly informative family member who showed us to our room helping to carry our luggage in the process. The bedroom was immaculate, tea and coffee in abundance, just the ticket after travelling. Bathroom was roomy and had both a bath and shower, again immaculate.Great wifi facilities and large screen TV. The... More

What a beautiful setting for a lovely guesthouse, and how much we were entertained by Ian and Helen!! We had room 1, which is on the ground floor and has a French window on to the patio. It is a large, delightful bedroom, with views of the surrounding countryside, a well appointed modern bathroom, with bath and large walk in... More

The lakes district is by its very nature expensive. That said I found Brantholme to be exceptional value for money and a great place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. As an overseas tourist it is always a bit of a lottery when booking accommodation. I struck gold with this one. Everything was as described or better, breakfast was... More

Booked for a couple of nights at the end of May for a much needed break. A dog friendly guesthouse in an ideal quiet location but right in the heart of Ambleside. We had lovely views of loughrigg and the park from our room and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was amazingly comfy and was a struggle to... More

We do consider ourselves very lucky to be only 2 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside (restaurants, cafes, atttractions, shops, etc), but still on the edge of the village with those uninterrupted views you mention. Thanks for taking the time to write your review ... what kind of a Bed and Breakfast would we be if we didn't provide... More

With on site parking available , this recently refurbished B&B was ideal for our needs. Our room was large and airy with an enormous en-suite . The view from our room and from the dining room were wonderful , looking over Fairfield Horseshoe and the local park. Breakfast was a full English ,with plenty on it too .As we have... More

Isn't it great to get a full 4 days away and not get bored?! There really is loads to do and see, you just need the right advice to make it happen. Some of the local walks are stunning and you don't need the giant rucksack to do them. Dogs are usually in their element. Thank you for your review... More

We've stayed at many B&B's in the Lake District and can class this as one of the best. The location was perfect for access into the centre of Ambleside, but if, like us, you enjoy the many walks around the area, it was the perfect location to be based from. The views over the fells from the breakfast room window... More

We're over the moon you think we're 'one of the best B&Bs in the Lake District'. The competition is fierce (as it should be), but it's so nice to be recognised by customers for our effort. People work hard (or have worked hard) to be able to come to the Lakes, so we really want them to have a great... More

Stayed here with our young dog in Room 1. Greeted warmly by Helen who brought us a hot drink & some cake and joined us to fuss the pup and catch up with us. We also met other family members and everyone made us feel like we'd known them for ages. Room was fabulous! Big, light, well equipped with a... More

As you know, Room 1 is our Ground floor room, with access to the patio, which is a real bonus for some people. We're delighted you liked it and isn't it amazing that the great views can be seen on all (not just the top) floors?! Your review makes us very happy and gives us added energy to keep doing... More

Brantholme is a family run B&B and so much more. My friend and I took two Irish Wolfhound puppies 17 weeks old. They were fussed and spoiled and well taken care of. The room had a door leading out into the garden, a secure area for them to play in. The rooms are large, very clean bright and well equipped.... More

As you know, we have a soft spot for Irish Wolfhounds and yours were simply adorable. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll see how much we love ours! Saying that, we welcome other dogs and sometimes even people without dogs (as long as they're well behaved!). Thank you for your lovely review, it really was lovely to meet you... More
