I was very impressed with this hotel. Wasn't too sure when reading the previous reviews but pleasantly surprised. Yes the car park is tight but most of the hotels/b&bs in Ambleside don't have any parking and you would have to pay so this, I think, is a bonus. The room was quite small but very clean. Breakfast was good, full... More

The pub has a car park with a very narrow entrance and exit. Forget it if you have anything wider then a mondeo, Our room was tidy and clean although we had a poor reception on the tv which probably had something to do with the area. It took more then 10 mins to fill bath up with the luke... More

We stayed here one night during a hiking trip. The parking is very tight if you drive a large car. Initial welcome was acceptable and the rooms had everything, including hot radiators and towel rails to dry gear out. Rooms were large and comfortable with good showers. The biggest problem was the beds - mattresses were too thin and uncomfortable.... More

my partner and i stayed for the night on valentines day and were pleasantly surprised after reading some previous unflattering reviews. All the staff were attentive and helpful and the gentleman i assumed was the owner could not have been more polite. The car park is indeed quite small but we had no problems ( the joys of a small... Stayed a few weeks ago and had a pleasant stay. When reading other reviews noticed An issue with some people is they are thinking 4* hotel not inn. There's a difference and who is going to get a 4* hotel for £45 a night in Ambleside?! The rooms are clean and mine was good size. Breakfast was only a half... More

The car park is extremely tight to get into, especially if y drive a 4x4, 25mm off each wing mirror to be precise. Once you check in at the bar and get to your room, don't expect to be able to get a shower as the heating doesn't come on till 4.30pm?? Well waited till 8pm and sill no heating... More

Comfortable room, warm and clean, bit on the small side, not a lot of room to swing a cat, but it would have been chased away by the barking dogs anyway. (Why do people bring their dogs and then stay in the bar for hours at a time.)TV on had 5 channels, come on Churchill you can buy up to... More

I’ll start by saying Ambleside is a lovely village and well worth a visit! However, spend a little more on your accommodation and don’t stay here. Reading some of the other reviews, people have complained about rude staff. This is certainly true of the bar staff, they really let their employers down. The rooms are fairly nice, sadly our bathroom... More
