I was shocked to arrive outside a pun and karaoke bar.!! I could not get my car down the narrowest slip way to the car park. Eventually I was taken to where the staff park their car, beside stinking bins. The bin men arrived and hauled them out to empty , just beside my new car. I have just had... More

We have stayed in the area on a number of occasions and would say this is the worst accommodation we have encountered. The location is good right in the centre of Ambleside, the car parking down by the side of the Inn is horrendous. Well the room was big, but in need of decoration, the carpet was very grubby and... We booked our stay via another booking site which stated the room was available for one night. I rang to see if we could book direct and was told by staff that it was only available for 2 nights (weekend) due to it being the start of the holiday season. I therefore booked via internet site one night. Reviews had... More

first you have to pay upfront before you see the room, check in was ok, was directed to the second floor, room looked pleasant but when we went into the bathroom there was a smell of mould, I looked behind the door there was a large wet patch on the door frame, also the blind was not working, when we... Myself & my partner arrived here for a short holiday get-away. We booked the churchill inn pub as it was one of the slightly cheaper options. Oh how we regret not paying an extra £30 to move down the road!!! Bad points: Extremely Noisy. (The pub isn't loud, but is loud enough to keep you awake until after midnight. Every... More

Booked this hotel off a travel website after seeing good reviews on here. After negotiating the tight car park we walked around to the front of the building. As the World Cup had just begun, we were not surprised to see lots of English flags in the window. But when we stepped inside, we thought that we were in the... More

My husband and I decided to have a night away as the kids were staying over with their grandparents. We live in Preston so wanted somewhere no further that one hours drive away, with plenty of pubs and restaurants. decided on Ambleside. As we booked it last minute there was not much choice. I booked The Churchill the day before... More

This is our 3rd night here but thank goodness it's the last. While the room is somewhat comfortable, it takes ages for the hot water to get to the shower. The staff have not been warm, welcoming or helpful. Breakfast was delicious every day, we can't fault that. But at 1pm our room still wasn't tidied. I've never had to... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed here last weekend for the great north swim and were very disappointed in the whole experience. The staff were distant and un-interested, the breakfast wasn't particularly appetising either. The room was nice, however the pub was very raucous on both nights (the saturday night understandably due to the world cup match). We stayed on the... More

- Car park entrance very narrow, one car's width. This is not their fault - few places in Ambleside have enough parking spaces, but be aware. Also other residents and customers will block you in. The car park is a free-for-all, not managed at all. If you want an early get-away in the morning, don't park here, as you won't... More
