Wonderful experience at this working farm. Just felt like home with a warm guest lounge to relax after a big day on the Lake (in the rain). The lemon drizzle cake and cup of tea on arrival was legendary, and Sheila was extremely accommodating with any requests we had. Very comfortable rooms with everything you could possibly need, and the... More

Sheila greeted us with a cup of tea and an absolutely gorgeous lemon drizzle cake, really moist and tangy. The house is a beautiful period property but with all mod cons, very warm and welcoming. The views are superb and it's so quiet really peaceful, there are lots of walks in the area including along the side of Windermere which... More

It was a rainy, drippy day when we wandered through the Lake District to Ambleside and Hawkshead. The road from Hawkshead to High Wray Farm was so off the beaten path, it felt as if we'd gone back in time...and in a way, we did. The setting, especially on this misty day with the clouds snagged on the hilltops, was... More

I have visited this lovely B&B on many occasions and it has always been wonderful. Sheila is very friendly, the rooms are beautifully decorated with tea trays with a choice of drinks, homemade biscuits, fresh milk and even sherry available. The breakfasts are amazing with an excellent selection to choose from. It is a working farm situated in a beautiful... More

Sheila gave us with a really warm welcome offering a lovely pot of tea with some delicious home-made cake. The accommodation was great with beautiful period rooms and relaxing atmosphere. If it's quiet surroundings and striking views you're looking for then this is for you. The bed we slept in was extremely comfortable and the room and en-suite bathroom was... More

Unfortunately we went to Ambleside without directions to High Wray Farms in our hands. In was quite a lengthy harrowing road up to the B&B, but once we knew where we were going, the drive seemed much easier. Hint: type High Wray rather than Ambleside into GPS/Satnav. You'll find it easily. Chris and Sheila are wonderful, hardworking hosts. Chris was... More

A marvellous three day trip to escape from it all, greeted as you drive in by Fly the dog, old and friendly and just wants a fuss, atthe door by Sheila and offered tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake. the Guest areas are in the old farm house 1623 if the wall cupboard is correct this is what... What a fabulous Bed & Breakfast this turned out to be. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm friendly welcome, we were shown to our lovely bedroom before Shiela the owner made us a fresh pot of tea (and even provided us with decaf when asked which was a bonus). We were also suprised with warm... More

We stayed overnight in August at High Wray Farm and had a lovely time. We were welcomed with gorgeous homemade cakes and a pot of tea -- brilliant after a long drive. The room was beautiful, clean and so relaxing. There was a lot of choice for breakfast with fruit, cereals, and a cooked brekkie. You are far enough away... More
