Recently stayed for two nights. Alison the owner met me on arrival, she was very welcoming, helpful and explained all I needed to know. She showed me to my room and said if I wasn't sure about anything or wanted to know about the local area then just ask. ROOM: Stayed in Room 5, which is a front top floor... More

Stayed with a friend. There were supposed to be 3 of us and they let us have a discount on the third vacant bed which they didn't have to do but it should be easier to extract from the non-attendee! 2 minutes walk from a load of nice restaurants. Really friendly, couldn't have been more helpful. Also let us store... More

Travelling up to the lakes to take part in a cycling event we needed a place to stay and to ensure our bikes were secure. We were welcomed and so were our bikes, with the owners letting us place them in there dining room for safe keeping. The owners laid out breakfast prior to our early start the following day... More

Stayed here with wife and some friends recently. It has positives and negatives. It is very centrally located and yet we found the room fairly quiet; despite facing the road. There is only one car-parking space although the owners do have street permits for some streets nearby. The breakfast was very nice; just about the right portions and you can... More

We're really sorry if you felt that your stay with us was somewhat of a mixed bag, and just wanted to respond to a couple of your comments as you have taken a long time to leave your thoughts. Firstly on the breakfast we offer a full English, a vegetarian option and a continental option, which seems fairly comprehensive. On... More

Stayed in mid April 2015, good size room, nice room facilities and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was good and I asked for the beans in a seperate bowl as I don't like beans all over everything. (Check that out Jayroger). The bacon was ok, it might be local but it wasn't the greatest, I am afraid I didn't like... More

We booked here on recommendation from fellow Trip Advisor reviewers. Alison and Alan made us feel very welcome, I can see why their Thorneyfield Guest house is so highly rated on trip advisor. The two A's would be A+ from our experience. :-) Our room was very big for a guest house. I've been in smaller Hotel rooms. Cleanliness is... More

The guest house is well situated for getting around ambleside and ideal as a base for exploring the Lake District. The owners were friendly and welcoming. The room was grand and well considered, equipped with everything you need. The decor is a little dated but the place is very clean. There are nice touches like umberellas, dvds and books available... Thank you for your feedback and we're really sorry that you didn't enjoy your breakfast, sadly this is the first time in 9 years that a guest has been unhappy with it. Unfortunately personal taste can differ; both the sausages and black pudding are award winning for example. As for the decor the room you were in was only redecorated... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in a family room for the Christmas lighting weekend. The inn is right on the main path of the lantern parade. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very kind and accommodating to us. Our room was spacious and comfortable although the mattresses are a bit on the old side. Tea facilities... More

We had a lovely one night stay here. The breakfast was amazing. Not ultra posh or 'boutique' but then again we didn't pay for that. The Room he had was huge and although I'm not a fan of bnb's (because I find it hard to relax in them) I did feel incredibly relaxed here which was quite something. The only... More
