Set just away from the hustle and bustle of the ever popular Ambleside centre this quiet retreat allows you to relax in a quaint and immaculate residence. Rooms are very comfy with excellent showers and the all important tea/coffee making facilities. The outstanding views across to the Lakeland fells that greet you in the breakfast room would bring a cheery... More

Just retuned from a lovely weekend in Ambleside, staying at Barnes Fell. Ethna was an attentive but discreet host. Nick's breakfast was lovely, very tasty and fresh. Stayed in the loughrigg room which was beautiful, spotlessly clean, bathrobes a lovely touch and amazing views. Only a two minute walk into centre of town. Perfect stay, would definitely recommend it.

Visited Barnes Fell again as we had such an enjoyable stay last time. It made a great Birthday even more perfect. The location is great for the centre of Ambleside with stunning views across the fells. Ethna is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and she goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. The breakfast is the... More

Just returned from a wonderful stay in Ambleside in lovely Boutique accommodation, Barnes Fell is the place to stay, it's just back from the centre of Ambleside and ideally placed for all that you want in the area. The room was very tastefully decorated with extras that just finished it off, the bed was very very comfortable and the bathroom... More

Stayed at Barnes Fell for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rates were reasonable, the breakfasts were superb and the rooms were modern and clean. The location is good - being a short walk (albeit up hill) from the centre of Ambleside. Ethna, the owner was very friendly and chatty and helpful. I would be more than happy to... More

We stayed at Barnes Fell for a weekend and had a wonderful stay. The rooms were lovely, comfortable beds, good shower, a few little extras in the room too which made it really nice. Ethna was so lovely, she gave us some good advice of places to go walking and places to go within Ambleside and made us feel so... More

This is a fab B and B. The owner is really lovely and you definitely feel at home. Bed is very comfortable and shower (in wansfell) is excellent. Breakfast, of course, is yummy!! Plenty of choice and consistent high standard every day. Room is really well looked after and the dressing gowns were a surprise!

This is a lovely, welcoming B&B which has everything you need. From the moment I arrived I felt at home and totally relaxed. The location is ideal as it is close to the centre of Ambleside but the elevated position makes you feel away from the hustle and bustle. Ethna and Nick are the perfect hosts who show genuine interest... More
