We and our friends spent the weekend last week. The food (breakfast) was good and the rooms were spotless but the down side was that we agreed both rooms were too small. Would have preferred to pay a little more and had the extra room.

Stayed for just the one night in room 4, the large single en-suite. Room was cosy, clean and bed very comfortable. The proprietor Malcolm is extremely helpful, polite and professional. There have been a lot of negative comments about the car park, but Malcolm organises this very efficiently. He was on hand to help me park when I arrived and... More

On a recent trip to Scotland I decided to break the journey and stop in the Lake District. I chose the Walmer and I was pleased that I did. On arriving in the afternoon Malcolm gave me a very warm welcome and showed me to my room which was on the top floor at the rear of the building which... More

Stayed with Malcolm and Doreen at Walmar B & B. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the breakfast was a typical Scotish hot meal which we enjoyed. Accommodation was at the back of the building so there was no street noise but the room was very small. Car park at rear of building was very squashed and each morning cars... More

we booked a small room, and that's exactly what we got. It was at the back, so we had no problems with noise from the street. After seeing the carpark, we shelled out £30 for a weekly ticket for the pay-and-display which is adjacent. The room was clean, the bed comfy, the shower hot and the cooked breakfast very tasty.... Spent 3 nights in the Walmar. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by Malcolm and Doreen. The rooms were excellent, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, excellent breakfast, all food locally produced. Nothing too much trouble. Well worth a visit. Thank you Malcolm and Doreen.

We booked this fairly late into the season after seeing the good reviews. The B&B is clean and tidy but the room we had was extremely small (even by Parisian standards!) so we had no where really to put anything. Also we had a room on the top floor at the front and the road was extremely noisy from cars... More

Arrived back from Holiday in Portugal and on speck looked for a place to stay. Short notice but found this lovely place close to the town centre. Great room with comfy bed, even though the weather was somewhat hot and, to be said enjoyable for the time of year. Breakfast was exceptional, freshly cooked to order, excellent. Highly recommended but... More

The B&B was nice, friendly people & all very clean. Ambleside is a great location. However breakfast is only served 8.30-9.00am which for us early risers delayed us a lot every day. Also the car park is tricky due to being only 6 spaces, all blocking in each of the cars & is practically vertical, you'd best test your hand... More
