I stayed here when I was 14 during a duke of Edinburgh exped and returned when I was 23 and I was so pleased it hadn't changed. This is what true camping is about! Water tap, toilet, and rolling fields!!

Absolutely beautiful, the views are breathtaking, not in the middle of no where, with an easy walk or 5 minuet car drive into Ambleside. The owners are lovely, the toilets are extremely clean with no queue's!!!! (even when we went which was the start of July school holiday- peak time). The tarn which is only a 2 minuet walk from... Ive been coming since before I was even born, again and again I return to what I truly believe is the best campsite in the lakes! Its no frills back to basics camping, x2 toilets and a outside sink & a rope swing for the kids. The tarn is great for swimming in and a pub 10 min walk away.... More

I first found this campsite about 20+ years ago completely by accident and have been coming back several times a year, every year since, always with family or friends and never disappointed. Ok so its not a bowling green to pitch on and there was no showers but its cheap, friendly, peaceful and quiet, has its own private lake and... More

No drinking no swearing and dont kick your ball over the fence cos the grumpy old farmer will not give u it back and its like being on a school trip lights off at 11 sharp. Ques likely for the poorly maintained 2 outside toilets at crucial times but if you like very basic camping then u will love this... More

Don't go here! We want it to ourselves! No noise or fire after 11. Families only, no groups. Site is checked at 11 and farmer gets shirty if you ignore curfew. Inherently beautiful site even when it's wet. Take a piece of rope and make a swing. Talbot pub 10 minutes walk but you may scrape your nose on the... More

This is a lovelly basic old fashioned type campsite, with friendly owners. The views from all corners of this site are stunning and myself and my son have spent many happy weekends here. Lovelly walks all around and a beautiful nearby tarn if you fancy a swim. The children will love the open spaces and easy going pace that attracts... More

It's a great place but you need to look after yourself by taking torches, food, a bucket to carry water and a tactful approach to a few noisy people who spoil it at busy times. The entrance is too narrow for caravans or big camper vans, so luckily they go somewhere else and pay a fortune. There's a postbox near... More

Stopped here on Saturday night, got to site late, very friendly owners, found a nice spot and pitched tent, very nice site, would love to go again. Lovely walk in the morning to the tarn so children could have a early morning swim
