Super welcome. All mod cons - WiFi, flat screen TV etc. Comfortable room and delicious breakfast cooked to order by Val. George is a great host.

Our Canadian visitors first stay in a B&B.... I didn't want to tell them that "Not everyone was like this one" So I left the good memories in tact. We all loved the breakfast, our bedrooms and enjoyed meeting up in the cosy lounge before going out. Loved the hosts, really friendly. Thanks Karen, Shirley, Mark, Georgina and our Canadians... More

We've spent four New Years at Red Bank and can't rate it highly enough. It is the reason that we have returned to Ambleside year after year. George and Val are the perfect hosts, always welcoming and run a great, comfortable B&B. All the rooms are excellent and the breakfasts perfect. You are only 5 minutes walk from the centre... More

What a find the Red Bank is and we will defo be returning! George and Val were very accommodating and couldn't do enough for us even when we arrived late, cold and wet from walking, we were told to sit by the log fire with a warm drink. Our room was wonderful, the bed was huge and very comfortable, in... More

We have just spent our 3rd New Year at Red Bank and it was excellent as usual - even the very wet weather conditions didn't spoil our stay. George and Val have this business off to a fine art. It's like staying with family! Beautiful surroundings and atmosphere that does fit the phrase "home from home." Excellent location with private... More

Thanks for your very kind comments and, as you said, shame about the rain while you were here. The log fire does help to warm you when you have returned from a walk on the wet side! We look forward to seeing you both again, hopefully in the near future. More

Excellent stay at Red Bank - 11th to 13th November. The rooms were great, good size twin room, with great facilities and very clean. The breakfasts were excellent - quality of the english breakfast was very good and service was superb. Val and George were very welcoming, gave us some great advice on local restaurants and walks and couldn't have... More

Can only echo everybody elses comments. Just had 2 nights stay in Room 2 (October 29th). The whole place is absolutely spotless, spacious, and extremely comfortable. Apart from our own bed, this is the first decent one we've slept in for years. The room wasn't your basic B&B layout, lovely bedding, really thick curtains, large ensuite with bath and separate... We had a wonderful 3 days and were blessed with lovely weather. We stayed at Red Bank a few years ago and revisited every year over a 5 year period. Val and George have taken over since we visited last, and they are lovely people. They are very hospitable and the food is great. In the past we have stayed... More

Not a lot new to say really - as other reviews have said, this is a top quality establishment, in a great spot just outside the centre of Ambleside, with many restaaurants within 5 minutes walk, and Lake Windemere only 10 minutes away. There is off-raoad parking. The B&B was spotless, the hosts freindly and helpful, the breakfast excellent, the... More
