Like many campsites in the lake district the scenery around you is amazing. After a long days hike relaxing by your tent with a beer and some chicken on the Barbie it doesn't get much better. But to be,able to look up at the surrounding mountains with the sun setting is better than any movie or tv documentary. I recommend... More

There's a poor review on the site from someone who complained about the expense.(and the soil quality?!).... This is still the cheapest way to stay somewhere with a few home comforts (generally I wild camp up in the hills and come down for a couple of nights for a shower and supplies) - less than £30 a night still represents... The pod was a great introduction for our young son to the big world of camping. The facilities are great though site shop a little expensive and it's quite a way to Chapel Stile. 3 pubs within an easy 10 min walk. I recommend Sticklebarn Tavern to all (steak and guinness pie is stuffed with meat) and suggest you avoid... More

To summarise: friendly staff, decent enough basic facilities, campsite liable to get boggy and has plenty of stones. If you want to camp and do some great Lake District walks then this is one of THE places to be. Make sure you book on their website in advance to get a place in summer. In winter you will be more... This was my first adult experience of camping staying as a couple in August. The site offered plenty of room to pitch the tent, the site was quiet by night (apart from the odd owl!). Facilities (toilets, showers, washing up sinks, laundry room) were all very tidy and clean. Showers were hot. Toilets were clean. But above all the scenery... More

Just got home from 5 nights camping at the National Trust campsite, Great Langdale. The location simply can't be beaten for access to walks. The shop is well stocked and the site is very quiet at night. We stayed on the family field and the park and river was good entertainment for the kids. The showers are hot and powerful,... More

We have just spent 3 nights at this site and have nothing bad to say. Staff were lovely, tolilets/showers were clean and the campsite is well laid out with numbered pitches. Well suited to families, very relaxing atmosphere ans beautiful views of the valley. Our children (aged 13 and 8) loved it. They made friends with children of a similar... More

What an amazing surprise to get there and find the most clean and well organized campsite I have ever been to. I can't say I know campsites in UK, but I definitely know them around Latin America, and this one is by far the best I have ever been. With good space between tents, marked numbers on the ground so... More
