The price was particularly convenient and the location perfect for people traveling by public transports like us (very close to the central railway station). The atmosphere was peculiar: and old aristocrat club (?) later trasformed into a popular hotel. Its conditions are not perfect, unpretentious - and we loved them. Big and quiet bedroom; very big bed (which is not... More

Not the best hotel we have stayed in but we did pick the busiest weekend to visit friends (freedom weekend) and managed to get somewhere last minute although we did pay double what would normally be expected in hull. Bed was good and the room was large but needed a refresh and the bathroom could have been cleaner as mould... More

Shabby hotel but quite cheap. Bed was good and large. The room needed a refurbishment urgently but was OK overall. There was a lot of noise due to bad isolation (there were 2 doors nailed shut that were going into the adjacent rooms so you could here everything). Bathroom was terrible. Only standard soap dispenser at the wash bin, in... More

About the best priced hotel in Hull. Great central location. Some rooms are very basic, but modernisation is under way. Rooms clean, beds ok, can't comment on food, as I have not tried it. Always try for a room at back. Views are rubbish but it is a lot quieter. Sure their are some draw backs, like limited parking, but... More

Location Very central location (next to the train station) with a small parking area - note you could try a timed parking in the side streets or drive to Wilberforce St for free parking and 5 min walk to hotel. Value I stayed on a Friday and Saturday for £27/night for a single room. Although the room hasn't been decorated... More

The staff were all pleasent and welcoming. The room had only a window that open half an inch and without air conditioning and a very hot night, it was unbelievable hot and we could not sleep, asked if we could hire a fan, told one would be brought up, but never turned up, I do not know if this was... We booked this hotel through a late booking sight on the date of our stay, and yes it was cheep, BUT we had done the same the week before and only paid £20 more for a Hilton room, so price isnt an excuse. The site said it was a "modern hotel with a contemporary style"....what it actually meant was that... More

This hotel is really good for the price. Our room was simple but adequate with a newly refurbished bathroom, clean towels and tea and coffee facilities. Staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There's a 24hour bar/lounge that was handy as and when we needed it! I didn't experience any noise during the night and central location... More

Just came back from a weekend at the Gilson Hotel in Hull. As you may gather from other peoples reviews its predominantly an old hotel with a few age related issues such as odd (bolted, but by no means soundproof) connecting doors between adjacent rooms and, at least on warm days & nights, amazingly warm rooms with no aircon (...
