Stayed in Room 1 on Saturday night 14/03/15. The room is large with plenty of space but was exceptionally cold with no trace of warmth in either radiator. The bathroom does not have any heating in it and relies on the main room for warmth I guess. Despite speaking with the owners twice about the heating, nothing changed. Fortunately we... More

Mr & Mrs. C We are very sorry that the radiators were not working efficiently in your room. The whole house was warm except your room, I can't understand that!! I did bleed the radiators, they were full of water, no air came out. The spare heater used on the last occasion was left in a dangerous condition melting the... More

My wife and I were here for a weekend break, and we were pleased with the room as well as the location of the guest house itself. The landlady lives here with her husband and they were very pleasant to interact with. Breakfast was excellent, with a typical mix of cereals, bread, juice, sausages (vegetarian sausages are available on prior... More

Hi Jamie, I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Acorn Guest House. Yes, Room 7 is a very popular room with that great view but it is better in the summer of course. Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to your return visit. Kind Regards Janet More

I stayed at the Acorn Guest House for two weeks before moving into my own place near Hull and I don't think I could have found a better deal. My room was very clean, the breakfast luxurious and I don't think many places offer a (silent) fridge and microwave which is ideal for longer stays. Janet and Stuart (owners) try... More

Nice big house with spacious room but cold. Had to ask for the heating to be put on at 5.00pm. Was disappointed when, after returning home at just before 9.00pm to find the heating was off and the room cold again. The duvet was so heavy it was uncomfortable to sleep under. There was a sun shade fixed outside the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights (oct 2014) in room 7 (Balcony room) and although clean enough, this room does not warrant 4 stars. The decor was very tired, with paint peeling off, wallpaper needs redone / undated and uneven floor tiles in the bathroom that moved when walked on and were sore underfoot. There was no duvet on the... More

Everything you could ask for in accommodation! There was even a microwave and fridge in our room which meant we could easily cater for lunch and or evening meal! Breakfast was first class cooked by Katy who made us feel very welcome. Couldn't fault it.............thanks Janet

Situated not far from the town centre, The Acorn Guest House makes an excellent choice for a bed and breakfast. The room was clean and had good facilities. The owner was very accommodating and provided an good breakfast.

Great bed and breakfast, stayed while visiting daughter at university as very close proximity. Great location, good breakfast with choice of full English or cereals, fruit and yogurt, very nice room with en-suite, and friendly service. Close to eateries and pubs.
