Stayed for one night on Saturday 23 November aand was pleasantly suprised by the whole experience. The room was clean, and warm. Staff were helpful and friendly, and as the pub was showing all the sports so had a great time. Food and drink was well priced - what more can you ask for. Definately would go again when next... Stayed with colleagues for a business trip rooms adequate although the corridors could do with a hoover. Food in restaurant was ok but they could do with a few more lighter snacks . The big draw back was that the restaurant does not open until 8 in the morning so on both days with early meetings we went without breakfast... More

For the money I paid I can't really complain. £78 for two nights is good value but I think I was above the kitchen as both days and into the night there was horrendous banging every 30 seconds like someone slamming a door or drawer. It wasn't a guest as it came from downstairs. I could hear raised voices too.... More

Having looked on the website prior to visiting we chose to eat here as the menu suited us, seemed a good price and wasn't far for us to travel. I booked a table for 5:30 on a Mon. We arrived 5:25 and waited inside the entrance for someone to come and greet us. We stood for 10 minutes and nobody... More

I've stayed at this place a few times whilst visiting my grandma, and it's absolutely fine. Clean, basic rooms at cheap prices. The last time we were there we were 'upgraded' to a family room for no extra cost! The rooms at the front of the pub also have a lovely view of the University.

Recently stayed for two nights and found that the hotel/restaurant/bar gave us exactly what we were hoping for. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. It had a decent television and facilities for making drinks. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which had a good pressure and shower gel is provided. We were in Room number... More

Rooms are a bit dated and pretty basic. However there is free wifi at an acceptable speed. Food in the hotel is steak, ribs, chicken type affair from the grill. My ribs were a bit odd, as they seemed to have been cooked and then the sauce / marinade added before serving. Large portions though makes good value for money.... More

I have lost count of the meals that myself and my wife have had at mare, we have not had a bad meal their in all this time. The steak I am told (from my wife is to die for and and I love the gammon amongst other things) Back most weeks on Fridays the staff are so friendly and... More

I chose this for convenience to the uni (which cannot be faulted) and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are lovely, the rooms are clean and have everything you need. It was quiet - but out of term! Food is exactly as you would expect (I didn't try breakfast). Parking easy and they let me leave the car all day!
