I've stayed here for 6 weeks now, the hotel is clean, the rooms are large, the beds are comfy, for the price, you can't complain, it's easily located near the town centre, and if the weather is good, then a nice walk on the common is a lovely way to spend the evening. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. I... More

It cost practically nothing to stop here, and I would have been very disappointed if it had cost more. Once it has been renovated it might be better, but my room was a bit tired. Like other visitors, I found the clientele in the bar to be a bit objectionable, was heckled while sitting quietly in the corner with a... More

The bar is the reception desk, which was crowded with 20-30 rowdy drunk men from six pm to approx 2 am. A semi-naked man woke me close to midnight to inquire if his prostitute had taken refuge in my room. Bathroom was littered with body hairs and not clean, tv remote crusted with old food. Due to the bar arrangement,... More

This place is a joke and precicely the reason I would always favour a Premier Inn over a Travel Lodge, any day. Everything seems to creak in this place. Reception is dowdy, dark and like an old fashioned train station kiosk. The rooms are not much better. Why pay the prices they charge here when you can stay not too... More

Genuinely impressed and surprised. This is a superb property with character but modern rooms and appliances. I would definitely book again as it's perfectly situated close to the town. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the room was newly decorated with a light and airy feel. Still in awe at the small price we paid for such an... More

This is a Victorian Hotel previously called the Wellington Hotel I believe, has been recently refurbished and gives excellent value for money, they have a nice bar and dining facilities until late, the reception is 24 hours. The bedroom we had was much larger than expected and it was very comfortable. The only thing that let them down was lack... More

Huge room set in old-style hotel building which having undergone complete refurbishment is very clean and comfortable. Very good value considering convenient location - actually has some charm and character !

To be honest after reading some reviews we were sceptical about booking this, but as time passed we were forced into it, and have to say glad we did! In fact booked an extra night too. Staff very pleasant, especially the young man that booked us in, excellent people skills and a great sense of humour. Hotel is under a... More

All staff we spoke to were lovely, really helpful and pleasant. Yes, the hotel is being refurbished, so isn't that good? I would recommend this hotel, unreservedly.. The only problem was a couple of young drunks in corridor in the early hours of Sunday morning, one in his underpants... but that was not the fault of hotel. The beds were... More
