My boyfriend and I stayed here at the weekend for a friend's wedding down the road. The hotel has been around for years and years and it has a certain charm to it, with it's creaky floor boards and old staircase, but it is in need of a bit of redecoration. The outside windowsills certainly need some attention and some... More

Where to start, most of what is wrong with this Travelodge has already been said. This beautiful old house that has been left to rack and ruin, such a shame I am sure in it's heyday was spectacular a quick glance at the other houses on the right of this one told me just what it could look like. .We... The staff in this Travelodge were just delightful. They were friendly and very helpful, I cannot praise them enough. The hotel itself has been very grand at one time but is now very faded with peeling paintwork and very creaky floors which can keep one awake at night when fellow guests come in late. The rooms are as austere as... More

My boyfriend and I have stayed here twice and both times we have enjoyed it. Rooms a good sized, very peaceful and quiet. En suite bathrooms are a little worn down but nothing terrible. We payed extra for the breakfast once and got all our favorites for a fry up, very tasty. Price for the room was great, though the... More

a wonderful old former hotel, yes, showing signs of wear, but how much nicer to walk that staircase than the backstairs in a modern Travelodge, huge rooms light and airy, walking distance to the town, walking within the paths of common right on doorstep

My walking group used the Travelodge as a base for a walking weekend so we stayed 2 nights. It is an ex-hotel, a lovely regency style building overlooking the common in the centre of the town. Restaurants were only a short walk away. The rooms were spacious and clean and the sheets were of high quality. The en-suite was also spacious.... More

My husband and I stayed here on Monday, 10th March 2014 as we were going to the Assembly Rooms theatre which is about 70 miles from our home. We immediately thought this was the best Travelodge out of about a dozen we have stayed in over the years. The building was opulent and the rooms huge and a very comfy... More

This is a large hotel and a bit tired in some areas but the price reflected this. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were pleasant. I would stay again. There is lots to do in the surrounding area.

It is nice old hotel, with very high cealing and big rooms... what is in my opinion very nice. It is not a newest hotel, but has its very lovely charm... Breakfast was also a good value for money, restaurant was nice with lot of day light.

Very old and tired building, the room we stayed in was a huge family room but very very basic. There was a double bed, a single bed and another mattress on the floor! Luckily we travelled as a couple so only used the double which was ok but the pillows were like bricks! The Travelodge is on a very busy... More
